why hasn't any one commented on this song yet? its my favourite song by dope. i think its about a break up, and the guy thinks that the relationship is all about mind games, and he wants to end it
I love this song so much, I like it cus it's not like all their other songs, all screaming with the bubbley vocals, although I still like it.
Yea, this song is totally about a break up, it's quite obvious. This song rules.
i dont think its necessarily about breaking up and hating each other about it. Obviously its about to people that are together but they havent thought about each other during there relationship, they dont want it to end but they both wonder if it would be easier on the both of them.
"All the times you took for granted that I waited here for you I was on another planet, I was waiting there for you"
That is like the guy telling her what he has on his mind or something and then she asks him if the whole thing would be easier if she was gone, hence:
She said Would it make things easier if I were gone Would it make things right if I was never wrong Would it make you happy when you sing your song Would it make things easier
and then she says whats on her mind:
"I was blind and I was faded and I didn't have a clue I was always into something that I always had to do"
and then he asks her about the same thing:
He said Would it make things easier if I were gone Would it make things right if I was never wrong Would it make you happier to move along Would it make things easier
and then its something like both of them telling each other what they have done wrong in the relationship:
"All the awful things we say, all the stupid games we play Every night and everyday, I don't know what else to say"
so i think in the end that they break up but as i said in the beginning, they break up but not in a hateful, he/she betreyed me kind of way. I dont know, thats just what i think, maybe i totally over-read the song, but right now thats what i think its about.
this song is awesome. Didnt see it coming from DOPE.
This is Edsel's most beautiful singing voice for their songs, in any song... He has an amazing voice for these kinds of songs he should do them more often.
Honostly, I think it's just about two people ruining each others' chance of happiness by having a long, unhealthy. But since that's really too orring and would make the lyrics kinda trivial, I'm gonna be a bit more farfetched and suggest that it's about the leationship between a person and drugs.
"Would it make things easier if I were gone Would it make things right if I was never wrong Would it make things easier if I were gone Would it make things easier"
Would it make life easier, if the option to "drug" them away wan't there? Would it make life easier if drugs weren't the wrong choice?
"All the times you took for granted that I waited here for you I was on another planet, I was waiting there for you"
Speaking of the time, where life was good without drugs. They were lurking and waiting for him, while his good life turns grey and crumbles. Waiting to take him away to that "other planet".
"She said" "He said"
No idea how this would fit into my far fetched analysis ;o)
"I was blind and I was faded and I didn't have a clue I was always into something that I always had to do"
He was living a busy life and didn't see what was happening around him.
"All the awful things we say, all the stupid games we play Every night and everyday, I don't know what else to say"
He starts, tries to stop. "Playing games every night and everyday" being the battle with the addiction and the choice of either getting control or melting away.
I know it's very far fetched, but listening to the song the first times, this is what I thought it was about. The "he/she said" parts kinda ruins my theory, though. If it was about a guy/girl getting a relationship and his life destroyed and then taking the easy choice by turning to drugs and bad habbits, it would make sense :o)
This song is possibly Dope's biggest song about a girl. Definantly straightforward to the point. Both parties of the unhealthy relationship think this question to each other "Would it make things easier if I were gone" but neither of them want to lose the love they have for each other. But they both know that life would be easier for them if they weren't together. For whatever reason they have to not be together.
An old friend sent this song to me while I was living in my car. The chorus made sence at the time, because of what I was going through.
Hearing it again more than 10 years later, this song sounds like it's about a couple who had no time for each other - one is always waiting, as if "on another planet", while the other is busy, "into something that (they) always had to do".
Maybe one got sick of waiting for the other, so the third verse alludes to them fighting.
Now I wonder what that old friend was trying to say, if anything. He was a bit of a Dope fan though, and we used to share a lot of music back then.
