Thats referring to the shoe... as in he/she/whatever left it for him to find. Beautiful song.
They sound like The Band in this song. I like how the drums sound kind of fat, and there's no reverb on them. Very stripped down ala The Band, Hayden, "Harvest" era Neil Young, etc...
