Slave Labor Lyrics

Machines are paper thin, and they're welded with ink
Sealed inside a legal trap, so tight with a leak
A contract with the devil for a life of distain
Seeping in the limelight at attention, slave!

I blame myself

God, help me pour this gas on me
I need to drown in flames to be free
Help me pour this gas on me
Help me pour this gas on me

God help me pour this gas on me (x4)

Chocking on the product for the mass to consume
The flocks of mindless sheep that have been coporately groomed
Ignorance through apathy like drones in the hive
A slave on the trail, a willing conformed disguise

I blame myself

God, help me pour this gas on me
I need to drown in flames to be free
Help me pour this gas on me
Help me pour this gas on me

I sold my soul (x11)

God, help me pour this gas on me
I need to drown in flames to be free
Help me pour this gas on me
Help me pour, this gas on me

God help me pour this gas on me (x4)

This song is about Fear Factory stuck under contract with RoadRunner Records and how they signed a really bad contract (sold themselves)! A slave to the record company.

"A contract with the devil for a life of distain"

You guys are probably right about the record label situation, but that line:

"God help me pour this gas on me "

definetly makes me think of that buhdist guy who set himself on fire in a human rights protest. There is a VERY powerful photo of him somewhere out there where he is kneeling on a mat, burning to death, and he looks completely calm and in control.

Maybe he's reffering to the record labels as god with their 'all mighty power.' and helping pour the gas on him would be getting him ready for like a kind of death and then "i need to drown in flames to be free" would be drowning in ignorance maybe to be free. giving up and letting the record labels to deal with everything. Losing his independence. Or than again, it could be the completely opposite: When he's protesting against the record labels. I hope that made sense...

i agree with the record label stuff. I dont know much about this bands past stuff because archetype is the only cd i have but i have to say this song is awesome. I love the guitar riff and the drums are really great in this song and in pretty much every other song on this cd.

It contains references to the self-immolation of a person against the corporate world, e.g. Kathy Change. The Corporate world in this case could well be Roadrunner records.
