@Forge1221 for me the line "Hardships come in twos" means the funeral and the break up are unrelated events. As in: life is just sucking big time, he experienced a break up and lost someone at the same time. FWIW, he writes about his grandmother dying in "Sleepy California" track on the same album. It happens. Our family dog died the same week my parents split.
