Mister, Would You Please Help My Pony? Lyrics
Mister, would you please help my pony?
He's over there behind the tree
He's down in the dirt, would ya help him?
I think it's his lung
Mister would you please help my pony?
He's chewin' bark and not the leaves
He's cryin' like a baby, would you help him?
I think it's his lung
Mister, would you please help my pony?
He's down - He ain't gettin' up
He coughed up snot in the driveway
And I think his lung's fucked up
Pony, Pony, Pony
Mister, would you please help my pony?
He's over there lookin' at me
He can't talk because he's a pony
I think it's his lung
(Repeat first verse)
He's over there behind the tree
He's down in the dirt, would ya help him?
I think it's his lung
He's chewin' bark and not the leaves
He's cryin' like a baby, would you help him?
I think it's his lung
He's down - He ain't gettin' up
He coughed up snot in the driveway
And I think his lung's fucked up
Pony, Pony, Pony
He's over there lookin' at me
He can't talk because he's a pony
I think it's his lung

I heard that one of the two (Gene or Dean) did acid and the other one went to the store, and upon returning home from the store, found the one that did acid in the fetal position on the floor repeating "Mister would wou please help my pony".
Interestingly enough, whichever member of the band went to the store hapned to see an article in a magazine or newspaper involving spinal meningitis. And so, two of the songs on Chocolate and Cheese were born.
wilks, i have to say, most of your story is correct, but i can be more specific. Spinal Meningitis had just been recorded. They were staying in a hotel. Very shortly into an acid trip Gene went downstairs to do something and saw the newspaper article headlined: "Am I gonna see god mommy?". he freaked out went back upstairs and saw dean in the fetal position chanting the words: "mister would you please help my pony?"
and yes, ween is heavily influenced by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. how could they not be?
no one likes this i song i love this song its so cute, can't say i know what its about could be alot of things or it could be the obvious
I've heard it's an allegory of child abuse, im still trying to confirm that.
After further reading I found the "meaning", its not an allegory at all. Geener was hallucinating, and though he had seen the pony that escaped from a local fair earlier.
Wow..amazing truth/lies but still nice meaning.
Something tells me LSD played a big role in most of ween's songs, I respect that!
it's about a kid who's pony is dying and he doesn't know whats goin on!
probably thought up on lsd, granted
Frank Zappa and the mothers of Invention all the way. These guys HAVE to been influenced by Zappa. Listen to this song and "mutilated Lips" and go out and buy Zappa's album "were only in it for the money". I guaranteed you'll see the simularities between Ween and Frank Zappa, and you'll probably love the album too!
I love this song. It cracks me up every time I hear it.
