You become famous(known), ppl know about you and who you are, and it probably freaks you out.

the music industry is always trying to make ppl out to be something they're not...

"And if I miss my graduation I'll have one fucking long vacation"

being in this industry, you're gonna miss out on a lot of things.. like, the olsen twins missed thier senior prom, to host SNL...

This is my favorite pop song lol. I don't normally listen to pop, but I can like this.

I love this song so much..My fav line is "who are you to know my story". It just sounds familiar for some reason...

I didn't even think about the whole music biz thing. I just kind of thought this song was like "I'm sick of all this, all I wanna do is sing. Screw you guys."

I think I read somewhere that Katy went to a Catholic school and when I listen to this song, I seem to think of her rebelling against that religious school. Perhaps she didn't care for their practices and wanted to believe she had the right to her own beliefs....referring the the line "I won't wear your stupid mask". It's just my theory of her not wanting to hide behind a mask of religion and to accept their beliefs as her own. Not that I think she's totally dissing the idea of religion or a higher power, but not to be forced fed the practices, beliefs, and fears.

it's about how she's tired of being told what to do and how she's breaking all the rules. so people are asking her why she's being so careless and telling her how she's running out of luck and stuff.

i adore this song, especially how she screams the chorus to give emotion.

Ok, musically, this song doesnt mean that much to me, but lyrically..OH DEAR GOD! i absolutely love and can relate to every single line she's saying, she just wants to say in this song that while some people tend to be the realistic-scientific kind that cares about education and all that shit, other people care about feelings and trying to make the world a better place through whatever they do (basically art)

Katy exposes one controversial thought though, that those educated type of people often tend to think theyre very important and beyond making mistakes and most importantly wear masks because they actually do thons of mistakes, hence

oh and when she says "who are you to know my story who ar eyou to read my book" it means history and literature courses.

this song is just amazing and it really made me proud of myself to be the "eccentric" in school, it really gives you a beautiful feeling for being different...

i personally absolutely adore this song.

but i'm not sure about "Hotel-Paper"s interpretation of

"who are you to know my story? who are you to read my book?"

i don't think it is to do with literature, i just think she is fed up of everyone prying into her life and knowing everything about her.
