Santa Cruz (You're Not That Far) Lyrics
Well tell me where it all went wrong
And tell me where you lost those damn songs
I can't say i was surprised
I heard a drink was involved
Oh you gotta be, oh you gotta be
Still living by the sea
Oh you gotta be, oh you gotta be
Cause Santa Cruz,
You're not that far
Oh Santa Cruz,
No, you're not that far
Well villains come and villains will go
But a hero's name is set in stone
I heard he sued you with lies
I heard he laughed when you cried
Oh you gotta be, oh you gotta be
Still living by the sea
Oh you gotta be, oh you gotta be
Cause Santa Cruz,
You're not that far
Oh Santa Cruz,
No, you're not that far
And tell me where you lost those damn songs
I can't say i was surprised
I heard a drink was involved
Oh you gotta be, oh you gotta be
Still living by the sea
Oh you gotta be, oh you gotta be
You're not that far
Oh Santa Cruz,
No, you're not that far
But a hero's name is set in stone
I heard he sued you with lies
I heard he laughed when you cried
Still living by the sea
Oh you gotta be, oh you gotta be
You're not that far
Oh Santa Cruz,
No, you're not that far

I submitted this as The Thrills, but then SongMeanings.net changed it to The Thrills (Boston Rock 80s) and added The Thrills (Ireland 00s)....but placed this song under the 80s group. This song should be moved to the current irish Thrills.
i'm from santa cruz myself, so this song has a certain meaning to me just because of that. i'm not entirely sure what it's really about though, but i would really enjoy any theories others have about this song and/or what it means to them
the second verse here is completely wrong: "Now and then hey once in a while those August cowboys stole your style don't you know youth is blind your train's just rolled in on time"
