Gone Sugaring Lyrics

I'll come back
With the sugar shack
Smell in my hair
Train take me there
I'll have eyes
That have seen the wilds
Of Pennsylvania
In the winter-time

Do you believe me when I
Say I'll miss you when I'm gone?
It's true
There's no use in denying I'll be
Tapping you
For more

Suck on my sweet tooth 'til I'm sore
Won't you take me to the twenty-fourth floor
Where the air is clear and I can see
The sun is rising in the east
I swing my feet recklessly
Over the railing on the balcony
As you kiss me goodbye
As you kiss me goodbye

This song definitely does leave me wanting more. It hits this beautiful climax at "take me to the twentyfourth floor," and then ends a few seconds later. I've listened to it five times today.

I'd like to think this is deliberate; she's leaving and she's left wanting more just like I am (or we are).

I wish this song was longer because I like it so much but it's so short. It's so simple. She's going on vacation I think.

I just read an article that says this song was inspired by her annual visit every March to the farm where her mom grew up, outside of Scranton, where she makes maple syrup.
