A Premonition Lyrics
Stand aside now no one will survive can't tell you how I know
In some time I will change my name and lay low
In the light you can see me walk down by the way
The one who did this to us well he got away
[Instrumental]
Keep it quiet here, I will not tolerate your noise
This is where I listen for ...
[Instrumental]
Keep it quiet here, I will not tolerate your noise
This is where I listen for the forgiving voice
Keep it quiet here, I will not tolerate your noise
This is where I listen for the forgiving voice
It haunts my dreams
It haunts my dreams
It haunts my dreams
It haunts my dreams
Keep it quiet here, I will not tolerate your noise
This is where I listen for the forgiving voice
It haunts my dreams
It haunts my dreams
It haunts my dreams
In some time I will change my name and lay low
In the light you can see me walk down by the way
The one who did this to us well he got away
This is where I listen for ...
This is where I listen for the forgiving voice
This is where I listen for the forgiving voice
This is where I listen for the forgiving voice

Absolutly amazing song IMO. One of the most melancholic songs ever from Katatonia. The song IMO is about a guy who finds out or witnesses something shocking and horrible which forces him to run and dissapear but the things he saw still haunt his dreams. Or a tottally different possibility is that he himself did those horrible things and now is forced the flee but this line: "The one who did this to us well he got away" contradicts that possibilty IMO.
It doesn't neccesarily contradict it, BurnThePriest - it could be a kind of self-accusation. "I did this and I deserve to be punished for it - why haven't I been?"
In my Opinion:
It's about something immoral the narrator did...something very bad...but not unnecessarily causing lots of death. I think the whole "no one will survive" is just used to show how powerful his regret is. He knows what he did was wrong and understand it, has come to terms with it, but doesnt want it to spread any further, thus he says the man who did it got away. And since he has come to terms, he just wants to move on. He doesnt need people breathing down his neck over it...or have the situation continued to be discussed (keep it quite here. I will not tolerate your noise) He is also deep down waiting hope and needing someone or something to tell him he can stop beating himself up over it so he can live again.
d00d. i tink tis sonfis about drugs lol!
Seems to me a modern telling of “the telltale heart.” The narrator is haunted by the guilt and memory of their past. The sound he asks to keep quiet is the memory repeating in his head. At the end the crescendo comes as he’s begging for forgiveness but as the vocals soften realizes that his pleas are in vain as no help is coming.
