Strict Machine Lyrics

I get high on a buzz
Then a rush when I'm plugged in you
I connect
When I'm flush
You get love when told what to do

Wonderful electric
Wonderful electric
Wonderful electric
Cover me in you

I'm in love, I'm in love
I'm in love with a strict machine

I'm in love, I'm in love
I'm in love with a strict machine

When you send me a pulse
Feel a wave of new love
Through me
I'm dressed in white noise
You know just what I want
So please

Wonderful electric
Wonderful electric
Wonderful electric
Cover me in you

I'm in love, I'm in love
I'm in love with a strict machine

I'm in love, I'm in love
I'm in love with a strict machine ...

No it really is about labrats, and how scientists can control the rats behaviour and stimulate the love/ sex/ pleasure part of the brain with electronic pulses, forcing them to do things that is completely unnatural for rats to do yet the feeling they get for doing it is so great that they love it.

"I get high on a buzz Then a rush when I'm plugged in you I connect When I'm flush You get love when told what to do"

"When you send me a pulse Feel a wave of new love Through me I'm dressed in white noise You know just what I want So please"

Not much explanation needed for these lines. The song isn't purely about rats though, the rats and the machine are just metaphors for lust, sex, power and the dominating thrill these things can provide.

I think people take this song far too literally. Yes Alison has expressed how this song was inspired by lab rats. Now, I don't think she wrote about that but rather compared it and used it as a means of explaining the charge of sexuality and yearning. I don't think her intentions were vulgar enough to simply be about rats or a vibrator but rather that 'inner electricity' that comes from passion, excitement, etc. The "white noise" being the waves of pleasure from such a strong connection to another or love.

This song is totally about BDSM. Not so much the juvenile stuff you see in movies and exposes, but really more about hardcore submission to an extreme dominant.

This song reminds me of a sadomasochistic movie called "Secretary". A movie that featured a lot of spanking scenes. Dominant and very strict male & submissive female type scenario. Even the music has whipping sound running through it. I see what people mean by their vibrator interpretation, or even the Excessive Machine in Barbarella. for that matter Although why would a vibrator be a "Strict Machine"?

from what i read the song is about being high on love. The writer is infatuated. However, the first time i saw a video rendition for this song on flashplayer.com i noticed the bass line-it seriously kicks ass! The bass line is made even better bc of the contrast between the low notes that fly within it and the high pitch of the singer... im not a fan of goldfrapp or dance music but this song is one of the best ive heard in a long time.

Its about lab rats, but its more about how they get electrocuted to do these things, and their brains click to tell them they love it. Ie - 'Wonderful Electric' and 'I get high on a buzz then a rush when Im plugged in you'

The machine is strict, but the rats love it.

um ya i def see the vibrator meaning behind the song "wonderful electric" "she gets flushes she its plugged into her hehe and duh "im in love w/ a strict machine" cum on guys hahaha no pun intended lol + )

I love how all of her love songs have a beat that will wake you in the middle of the night.

I saw in an interview with Alison that it's about rats, and how if you make them do something, something in their brain makes them think they absolutely LOVE doing that thing. So I guess it's about how you can be completely in control of someone and they'll still love you and listen to you...

I'm not sure what this song is about and I don't really like dance music (especially not the 'electronic' type!) but this song absolutely kicks ass!!!
