Black Cherry Lyrics

Black Cherry

How can it be?
I can taste you now
How can I see
When you're everything

All the world in one grain of sand
And I've blown it
All my world in one grain of sand
And you own it

Black cherry
Black cherry
Stone

Black cherry
Black cherry
Stone

Hearing you say it
I could die
Trembling star
Just reminds me

All the world in one grain of sand
And I've blown it
All my world in one grain of sand
And you own it

Black cherry
Black cherry
Stone

Black cherry
Black cherry
Stone

Excite me, ignite me
Oh and you know,
I miss you, I kiss you
Oh and you know

Black cherry
Black cherry
Stone

Black cherry
Black cherry
Stone

Excite me, ignite me
Oh and you know,
I miss you, I kiss you
Oh and you know

it's about the downside of love. black cherries are sweet and delicious, but even the sweetest cherries have stones(pits). whenever I eat a reeeally especially good cherry, I'll suck on the stone until every last bit of fruit is gone, and I think that's what she's doing here. she's savouring every bit of what she had, because it was so good while it lasted. but now comes the hard part: the end.

I think the narrator was in love with someone who left her for whatever reason, and now she just feels cold. She has a heart of stone and can't love anyone except for the person who has left her, so she wants him to come back so that she can love again.

The title to me refers to her hear. Cherry's are a blood-coloured red, and yet this one is black and cold as stone.

‘And I’ve blown it’ Sitting with my headphones up loud and my eyes closed, the sound vibrates inside my head. I’ve loved this song since I first heard it. This is about loving someone, about putting EVERYTHING in and either getting nothing back.

“Have you ever been in love?

Horrible, isn’t it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens your heart and it means someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses. You build up this whole armor, for years, so nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life.

You give them a piece of you.

They don’t ask for it. They do something dumb one day like kiss you, or smile at you, and then your life isn’t your own anymore.

Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so a simple phrase like ‘Maybe we should just be friends’ or ‘How very perceptive’ turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart.

It hurts.

Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It’s a soul-hurt, a body-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain.

Nothing should be able to do that.

Especially not love.

I hate love.” (Rose, Sandman by Neil Gaiman.)

I always thought this song made so much sense to me, always felt i put my entire heart and soul into someone and that no matter what I did they just didn’t feel as MUCH as I did, didn’t hurt, didn’t want as much, didn’t deserve as much. .

Then I met you, and I started to mess everything up. This song reminds me of hurting someone too. Of having something beautiful and good...and losing it (and you can’t ever get that back.) (I think.)

I love this song. For me, it's about a person, whos luck depends on another person ("All my world in one grain of sand And you own it") She/he 's helpless and the other one can do whatever he/she/ wants with her/him.. and know this too.

This song is so beautiful. It always makes me sad because yeah, it seems like it's about a break up, and the person just wasn't expecting it and really was into the relationship and now they are devastated.

Sorry, that should be 'heart' in the 2nd paragraph, 1st sentence.

It might just be me, but the line "all the world in one grain of sand, and I've blown it" seems like a reference to the poem "Auguries of Innocence" by William Blake (To see the world in a grain of sand).

It's a great song. :D

nope, it isn't just you... was hearing the blake as well.

I love this song. Its so beautiful. I think this is about a sudden breakup that wasn't expected. And it is all so new, hence "I can taste you now". I think it just happened, and it's not like they were fighting or there was tention at all, but it just happened. And he was her world. She based her happiness/day to day life on this person. And maybe I'm wrong, but maybe he was her first? Maybe that's where black cherry comes from? Maybe I'm wrong :)

This song reminds me of my relationship with my ex. It's a really unique song.

It means she put her heart and soul into something, "all her world" in a "grain of sand" something so small. She is remembering it and it is bittersweet like black cherry the way she felt but also the way it ended.
