Christopher Lydon Lyrics

clutching the phone till my hands were sore
i never understood pain before, christopher
you cannot know what it does to me
hearing you speak with this frequency

i never knew what one voice could do
i was in heaven the moment i heard you
my friends go out drinking and having fun -
i stay in bed with my headphones on

shot down with arrows from waves above
christopher lydon renounced my love

it took so long to get through to you
i never understood sorrow, and now i do
i finally got past your moniter,
and you broke my heart in two, chrisopher

christopher, i am your listener, christopher,
i've never felt love like this before, christopher,
christopher, now and forevermore, chrisopher
i'll never stop saying christopher, christopher

finally i knew what i had to do
christopher i had to make the connection with you
i dont care that you could be my father, dear chistopher
i will be yours til the bitter end........

so during a show about joan of arc
i got through - i said:
"christopher lydon, you've stolen my heart"
when i asked if you felt the same way for me
you cut me off like a guillotine

drawn like a bull to a matador-
i just see visions of chrisopher
shot down by arrows from waves above
christopher lydon renounced my love

christopher, i was your prisoner, christopher,
i hope you're happy now chistopher
thank you for everything but i'm not listening anymore nor do i plan to contribute to NPR
christopher what do you take me for i'm not just any old talk show host groupie....
oh christopher.....is there a chance for me?
christopher...beautiful, beautiful christopher....beautiful, beautiful, beautiful christopher....

It's written about the radio man who is popular in Boston, where the lead singer is from. I adore this song because at the very beginning it's entirely pure and gentle then gets rougher and more angry towards the end.

I don't care if your old and incompetent is a another line that changes depending on the performance (used to be "i dont care that you could be my father, dear chistopher")

Christopher Lydon is a presenter on a Boston radio show. They wanted him to listen to their demo, so they wrote this song about him to grab his attention. I think. Anyway, something worked. And it's a good song.

I love how this song is so...blatant. How it's really open, and direct, like how children think...how songs should be written, IMO

Actually, I think she sings "old and incontinent," which is far funnier ;)

How old would she have been when she had this "love" for Christopher Lydon? She sings the lyrics as a child would feel towards their teacher but then again she says "My friends go out drinking and having fun." Unless if she had somehow much much older friends than I don't quite understand the aging around this. Do you guys have any thoughts on this?

This song is horribly sad, though it is meant to be a comedy. Her voice is perfect for the harsh, wrenching sorrow an unrequited love can cause. I love her.

TheSweetHeartRoland: Just because she wrote the song as a child with a crush on a teacher, that does not mean she was a child when she wrote it. Tone is one of the many ways to express how characters or real people feel, and one's tone isn't always compatible to their age. Palmer is just showing how the crush was very childish. Nothing would have ever happened between them, and she shouldn't have had any hope, but she was still hurt when she finally realized that it was futile.

to me, this is a song about unrequited love. one of my favourites on the paradise dvd i recently got (its beautiful, you've gotta check it out!!) it's about a crush, a silly but deep crush, like my current one on Brian Viglione. it's not their saddest song, but it can still hit you pretty hard just with the music and voice and tone, especially if you've ever been ripped down by a crush. i love the note she hits at the end of "i'll never stop saying christopher, christopher..." shes great
