Close To You Lyrics
So many years that we were one
So many things we've done
The memories alive
But most of me has died
As I struggle with events
I'm offered words of strength
They do not comprehend
The passion we possessed
People tell me what to do
Tell me how I should get through
But they haven't got a clue
No one else comes close to you
I see your eyes before they closed
They looked right inside my soul
And they asked me not to grieve
I tried but still I bleed
I wake up, I break up
Try hard to shake off
The desolation as it grows
As nothing else comes close
And as I stand here by the grave
And the wind calls out your name
I know that time could never heal
The emptiness I feel
People try to give me hope
Tell me how I should let go
But they'll never really know
'Cause there's nothing else comes close
People tell me what to do
Tell me how I should get through
But they haven't got a clue
No one else comes close to you
So many things we've done
The memories alive
But most of me has died
I'm offered words of strength
They do not comprehend
The passion we possessed
Tell me how I should get through
But they haven't got a clue
No one else comes close to you
They looked right inside my soul
And they asked me not to grieve
I tried but still I bleed
Try hard to shake off
The desolation as it grows
As nothing else comes close
And the wind calls out your name
I know that time could never heal
The emptiness I feel
Tell me how I should let go
But they'll never really know
'Cause there's nothing else comes close
Tell me how I should get through
But they haven't got a clue
No one else comes close to you

It is about a man who recently lost his wife. He is mourning the loss through the words. Beautiful song.
Such a beautiful song, one of, if not, my favorite JP song.
:)
To me, this is the message in this song: Have you ever lost anyone you loved so much that you just could not accept it, get over it and move on with your life? The song basically depicts people giving this man such advice as to be strong and accept that fact that his loved one is gone forever, but the man basically implies through this song's lyrics that the people who try to help him don't understand how much his wife (if that's who it's dealing with) really meant to him.
Very good lyrics indeed. I think it's th only song I know about losing a dear person that actually lives up to reality. There's no "getting over" a persons who had a unique and irresplacable role in ones life. Losing this person means having an empty frame that no one will be able to fill the way this person was able to and the attempts of his freinds trying to do so are quite counterproductive.
