Hearts On Fire Lyrics

We saw the writings on the wall
When heathens ruled above us all
Tormented, we still heard the call

You come to bring us down
Wield the scepter, steal the crown
Time on the throne is running out

'Cause seasons change but we are still the same
Event though the cold winds blow we're burning like a
flame '

Hearts On Fire, Hearts On Fire
Burning, burning with desire
Hearts On Fire, Hearts On Fire
Burning, burning with desire
Hearts On Fire, Hearts On Fire
Burning, burning with desire
Burning for the steel

Hearts On Fire

For years shunned by society
Outcasts, condemned for our beliefs
Our legions grew in secrecy

And now, the time is here
I see the Templars everywhere
The Freedom Call is drawing near

We hold our rebel banners up with pride
The colour's crimson and the Hammer is the sign

Hearts On Fire, Hearts On Fire
Burning, burning with desire
Hearts On Fire, Hearts On Fire
Burning, burning with desire
Hearts On Fire, Hearts On Fire
Burning, burning with desire
Burning for the steel

[Solo: Stefan]

Hearts On Fire, Hearts On Fire...

Hearts On Fire, Hearts On Fire
Burning, burning with desire...

I think that this song is about the Christianization of Scandinavia. For centuries, Scandinavia was ruled by Norse pagans (Vikings). The song is probably from the standpoint of a secret society of Norwegian Christians (since the Norwegian king Olaf was the first major influential Christian in Scandinavia) During the Viking Age, Norse paganism was the ruling power of Scandinavia, England, Scotland and Ireland but in 1066, Christianity was declared a state religion in Norway. (which then spread to Sweden, Denmark and other Scandinavian satellite states) The determinations of the English missionaries through it all is reminiscent of:

"Even though the cold winds blow, the fire burns the same"

Song Meaning

@monkeyradar well is logical and i thought abount the same but then they use the line 'The color's crimson and the Hammer is the sign' wich reminds me of the flag of the soviet union or i am completly wrong...

...in case you guys didnt know, this site is called 'songmeanings.com'.

People come here to look up the meanings of songs, not to read about other people's opinions of it, thats what forums of websites are for.

Anyway, the song is about standing your ground, standing by your beliefes, not giving up on them no matter what.

I think that part is about the new metal revival, 'cause, if you look at it, metal has really made a comeback in the last few years, compared to like in the 90's, where the music was dominated of pop music and the suchlike

the end of the first verse is off its:

"even though the cold winds blow the fire burns inside" not "even though the cold winds blow were burning like a flame" although that would have sounded cooler

It kind of reminds me of the Old Testament (yes...I'm reffering to the Bible) in which the Israelites people were under pagan Kings/Emperors/Pharaohs, and their hearts were on fire to get out of their oppression. However, the call (first stanza) I believe would be a prophet being called to turn the Israelites back to God so they can overcome the evil. It's a guess, and I don't know how accurate it is, but that's what I think the song means.
