Q&A

James Lyrics

you said young man don’t rely on a sword
cause your words will outlive even time
i’ve counted my blessings
the rest are for you
please listen close for a while

and breathe, breathe deep for me james
don’t you feel that you’re free now from pain
i've heard about heaven for years
can’t be sure where you are
wander on blessed james
i’m fine with you here

i made the mistake once of fearing an end
is this life that we live just the world’s accident
not a chance so i move on with a smile
are you surprised where you are

so breathe, breathe deep for me james
don’t you feel that you’re free now from pain
i've heard about heaven for years
can’t be sure where you are
wander on blessed james
i’m fine with you here

i grew up slow on the heels of the rest
left my heart back at home
carried you in my chest
and i don’t feel like crying today
why can’t we talk for a while

and breathe, breathe deep for me james
don’t you feel that you’re free now from pain
i’ve heard about heaven for years
can’t be sure where you are
wander on blessed james
i’m fine with you here

you said son, just listen to me
but i’m doing fine, james
so you can sit back and just breathe
and it's time now to let yourself go
hold us close
spin the dream
the curtain will fall but behind it
i see that you're here

I'm supprised no one has commented. This is a beautiful song, about one of the band member's grandfather (i think) who has passed away. In my humble opinion, this is their most beautiful song.

"is this life that we live just the world’s accident"

This is anti-evolution propaganda.

@collegeguy666 I truly hope you are 14 years wiser by now my friend.

it's not anti-evolution propaganda... he's implying that there is more to life than just being animals who have well adapted to the planet. maybe there is more to it than just a few chemical reactions.

Exactly, anti-evolution propaganda. I think we've proved time and time again where no better than animals, if anything, were worse. At lease animals rely on instinct, we start wars of religion and race and orientation.

Whats worse is people like you support such violence.

You lose credibility when you start attacking people in an effort to force them to adapt to your labeling of them. Up until this point I had no problem with you expressing your opinion... whether I agree with it or not is irrelevant, it is our basic rights. But when you went into attack mode you rendered yourself completely illegitimate. Just my humble opinion...

easy on the attacking, collegeguy666. assumptions and labels on people = bad.

my opinion: it's not going against evolution. it is expressing the hope/belief that it's not all a meaningless accident. they've made it clear that they believe in Love and a god of some kind, so this just goes to support that. Similar to John McCain's "divine engineer through it all" theory, although probably not Christian.

if you are here looking for a full song meaning, listen to the song and find out what it means to you. that's what it means.

"diviine engineer" is a christian way of sneaking in creationism through INTELLIGENT DESIGN.

Either way it's one person forcing their religion onto another.

Being a fan of O.A.R. i don't feel like the band is "forcing" anything on me. If I felt like they were forcing any of their opinions/views on me, I wouldn't be listening to them. The song is about someone who passed away. Just like you're on here expressing your feelings and emotions, the band is doing the same. Don't be so bitter.
