All Possibilities Lyrics
All possibilities
Are landing at my feet
There's nothing I can see
But possibilities
All colours are changing in my eyes
Your hopes are all fading, that will never do
You're seeing the world through cynical eyes
I'm seeing the world through the eyes of somebody new
Oh, there's a hope left
There's a dream still in my heart
Look past the answers
There's a chance that there's no rulebook for this love
All possibilities
Are landing at my feet
There's nothing I can see
But possibilities
All the colours are changing in my eyes
Your hopes are all fading, that will never do
You're seeing the world through cynical eyes
I'm seeing the world through the eyes of somebody new
Oh, there's a hope left
There's a dream still in my heart
Look past the answers
There's a chance that there's no rulebook for this love
Are landing at my feet
There's nothing I can see
But possibilities
Your hopes are all fading, that will never do
You're seeing the world through cynical eyes
I'm seeing the world through the eyes of somebody new
There's a dream still in my heart
Look past the answers
There's a chance that there's no rulebook for this love
Are landing at my feet
There's nothing I can see
But possibilities
Your hopes are all fading, that will never do
You're seeing the world through cynical eyes
I'm seeing the world through the eyes of somebody new
There's a dream still in my heart
Look past the answers
There's a chance that there's no rulebook for this love

to me, it's about how you feel after a "moment of clarity." basically, something very good happened to the narrator, and this song is his reaction afterwards, where he's looking at how things are in his life, and looking at the things he's managed to pull through, and having hope for the future because of some sudden realization he's had, or some random good thing that has just happened. meanwhile, someone else("you're seeing the world through cynical eyes") is looking at those things as well and giving up, seeing the future as without hope at all. so this song is really the guy singing about looking at those things from a more positive perspective, and thus looking forward to the future with hope rather than recoiling from it in fear, trying to get the negative guy to understand and hopefully feel the same kind of hope he does.
...after rereading this comment, it reminds me of the dynamics of a relationship. perhaps the guy singing is positive and thinks his relationship with the girl is full of promise and he's hopeful, whereas the girl is being cynical and full of doubts. he's singing about his own hope with the, well, hope that she'll feel the same.
Edited by delial on May 28 2008, at 06:33AM

I definitely agree with delial. it's about a guy's dreams about a girl he likes. He feels so full of hope that he could do anything. So much hope that he feels he can break the "rulebook" of love. It's made him a new person.
Heard it on the Target Commercial, took forever to find out who sang it. Glad I went to the trouble, this is one of the catchiest songs with a very nice tone. Somewhat morose yet very hopeful. Could probably mean just about anything but it certainly delivers an eye opening message of hope.
Always in pursuit of the perfect people - he doesn't fit in with or wants to become like those people she want him to ( probably egotistical high society)
Oh and I can see that it shows -Knowing she has to live up to this act .
But there's just an innocence in you I want to wring out I know it could be beautiful - he knows deeply better than anyone else in her life and wants her to be her true self.
But I don't want a part of some situation- he doesn't want part to be part of a circus of society fake people etc. I don't want to be in that boat - it's not his scene. He knows what people are really like.
I don't want to stifle your flight- he's not controlling and won't stop her from what she wants.
I didn't mean to fall in love- he didn't know or expect to fall in love realising he can't become the person she wants him to be . He won't change for her even though the love he has for her , he won't change himself for the illusion of the world she wants
