Then Go Lyrics

Among the afflictions with which I've been marked
I'm not so prententious and not quite so dark
I get the feeling you're bored with me
And not through habit or frequency
Did your mother have you easily?
And if there's someplace else you'd rather be
Then go, then go

Among the intentions which have been sought
Numbered and labeled but none of them bought
I get the feeling you're bored with me
Not through habit, or frequency
Did your mother have you easily?
And if there's someplace else you'd rather be
Then go, then go

It seems so deca tree
Stares blindingly with melted time
Leaning over, it's only ooooh
Then go
Then go, then go

the version of this song that i have has completely different second and third verses. I happen to like the variation in these, so I thought I'd share:

among the intentions which have been sought numbered and labeled but none of them bought I get the feeling you're testing me you're saturated in urgency I stick your probe in further but you're still not pleased and if there's someplace else you'd rather be then go, then go.

I would have lied for you I would have cried for you I crossed the line for you I would have died for you

The version by wastrel is the one I have. This song is the epitiome of the relationship where one side gives, gives, and gives and finally realizes that that is all there is, perhaps ever was. The song (in this version) ends with an affirmation of how strong the love they had was-- that there wasn't anything they woudln't have given... if only their love would have returned an inch.

I think this song is not about sending someone away but about willingly let them go. I also know and love only the version which Lisa Hannigan sings at the Union Chapel, and I never thought she's hurt by someone who doesn't love her as much. Sometimes it's just the way it is - you love someone so badly it's almost impossible for them to love you as much. I think she is hurt because she feels he WANTS her to let him go. She's not upset about him not loving her, I think she's upset about having to let him go. And she loves him so much, she is willing to do that. She cares more about his happiness then hers. She would have died for him, she crossed the line, but the one thing she needs to do is let him go.

the lyrics on this site are wrong...

then go... then go...

i would've lied for you, i would've cried for you... i crossed the line for you, i would've died for you...

sometimes he doesn't play the "deca tree" part, or the "i would've lied for you" part... anyway... great song.

i've never heard the song but i like the lyrics. kind of saying "nothing i do is good enough for you so screw you" although damien has a much more beautiful spin on it...

lisa hannigan sings the main part of this song, its a slow, moody, burning song & her voice makes it a chilling listen. cello background & damien lightly plays over it. gorgeous song & lyrics are great

there's a few versions of the song as one is the original Juniper (Damien Rice & Bell X1) version, and one is the version Damien does with with Lisa Hannigan and his own band. the one at the top is damien's latest version

i think this song just states exactly how hard it can be in a one-sided relationship. lisa sings hauntingly, it feels as though she truely means this when she sings it. i think it's about a relationship coming to an end, the one doing all the work realises that all they have ever done is tried, yet nothing is ever good enough. she would rather he left than sat there and wish he had gone. it is a heart-breaking song but can be related to by many.

I've never heard this version before, but the one I have is similar.. What I get out of it is that [even though Damien wrote this..] she feels as if he is only in the relationship out of habit. she's just there because that's the way it is. she's noticed how it seems more like a routine rather than an ongoing relationship.
