I think someones depressed and feeling really lonely. And they think they are the only ones to hurt in this world. But the song is saying that everone fears something, everyone has things that they keep to themselves. People are afraid of admiiting that they hurt sometimes!

First of all I love Nickelback! I believe the song is about someone who is unsure if there is a God like ads82 mentioned. I also believe this song is trying to state that we all ask ourselves these questions at one time or another.
This song is pretty much explaining ur not alone in the world ther are other ppl who feel like u

Life is a very complicated. And this song points out the doubts, fears, thoughts and emotions we feel about it, and that even though we always feel as though we're alone in questioning and searching for the answers to these doubts, fears, thoughts and emotions... we're not.
I totally agree with Silverside that it's just stating that you're not alone.
Because we've all got these things in common, despite how adamant we are in thinking we don't.
This is one of many excellent Nickelback songs that are superior to their hits.
I think that this song isn't as good as any of the other ones they did. It's just pointing out the obvious and isn't as inspiring.
