The song is not about finding a boy/girlfriend. Instead of finding love within somebody else, it is about finding love within yourself. "I just wanna feel real love Feel the home that I live in" is like get in touch with this body I live in.

This song is about when Robbie gave up drugs and alcohol. Althought he was meant to feel things properly now that everything was real coz he was sober, nothing seemed to matter in his life. He wnated to feel all the emotions he did whilst high. He thought it was better when he had drugs and alcohol until everyone told him this song was the best ever, then Robbie realized that maybe he was better off like this. :-)

Hey all! I have this personal hobby of writing about the meanings that I derive from the songs I relate to. It was a pleasant surprise to stumble upon this site. I wish I had known abt it earlier ... I could have contributed much before. Anyways, better late than never!!

For this song, I am amazed there r so few posts (compared to other good songs tht I've browsed on this site). The song's way too beautiful. At least for me. I could relate to this song in my own way. Perhaps it wasn't really written with the same meaning. The earlier interpretations (esp. the one about overcoming drug-addiction) seem more logical and likely. But whenever I hear the song I picture a guy who desperately wants to confess his love but for some reason(s) holds himself back...

I long for your presence; I want u to be always with me. (But do I desrve it?) . You r my life and I wanna live. I wanna bare my mind completely for you. But I can't. (Moreover I aint sure if I should ! )

After trying everythin -. from 'fighting back' to 'running away' - in vain, I pretend rationalizing. But I know it's useless. So much that even He laughs at me. I don't know what to do . I can't trust my own mind.. (I think I m going mad.)

Somewhere deep inside I do crave for your (real) love and that we have a 'home' that I had always dreamt of (the home that I live in) (unlike the one I've been living in all these years) But at the same time I don't know if i deserve it.
My life has been such a waste that whatever i've lived is more than I deserve (I got too much life)

As a Catholic priest, I think this song speaks volumes to the human soul. It is not about superficial love, but about the deeper discovery of the spirit, and the idea of life after death. This is a beautiful song, and always makes me think. It is true that sometimes it appears that God laughs at our plans, but it is just our God-filters that make that seem to be the case...Robbie is searching, keep searching Robbie.

It is about God and the enternal life,Robbie wants you to hold hes hand,while contact the living, He wants you to join him feeling Gods great love,and join him in a life ever after, And Robbie feels he is to much full of life, to let it go to waste by dying. And to just die,and be done just moore dead,its little comperad to this thing we call enternal life (we cant possible understand what it is as humans)

Well,i dident know that Robbie had figured it out,and Robbie has been given a spesial role in life.

And God is using him, The song and the lyrics is really brilliant done,but he cooaperates with a truly brilliant one. And Robbie is doing something really great. So dont waste your lifes away by death,start to belive,and you must REALLY belive,and a can promise you will find out something REAL great.,,,..But remember,YOU MUST REALLY BELIVE,

Why has no one left a comment for this song? I can't believe it! This song is so beautiful. It is really touching and makes you feel that you're not alone in this world (for those of us who dont have a significant other and never have) I love how he protrays his feelings so openly in his songs. Robbie is an amazing artist.

poor rob, i hope he finds true love someday, he deserves it, although the line where he says "There's a hole in my soul You can see it in my face It's a real big place"
