Absolution Lyrics

I would swim across oceans
Just to talk with you
I would climb a tall mountain
Just to look at you
I'd give my soul to the devil
If you asked me to
I would walk out of heaven
Just to be with you

This is absolute
This is absolution

I will be your disciple
And I'll worship you
Burn the prophets of reason
Light the sky for you
Kill the children of Eden
If you want me to
Close the dead eyes of God
If they offended you

This is absolute
This is absolution

Cover art for Absolution lyrics by Gary Numan

one of the most beautiful and passionate songs I have ever heard, a masterpiece lyrically and sonically

Cover art for Absolution lyrics by Gary Numan

This song's about the absolute love he feels for a woman, describing his love, he tells her what he's willing to do to show her that love. Starting soft, "swim across oceans" ending fanatically "kill the children of Eden" or "close the dead eyes of God".

This song is full of biblical / Christian references (cfr. devil, heaven, disciple, prophets, children of Eden, God)... but I think Numan isn't that religious.

Best song on the album Exile. A song of complete devotion, I'm assuming to the woman he loves. Dark, Haunting, and dreamy synths over a relentless beat. This is when Numan is at his best.

I believe I saw Numan say somewhere in an interview that this song was about the dangers of obsession.

i believe that this song is about obsession, he would do anything for whatever he is obsessed with, a woman probably, this song has Christian references like kilo mentioned, but his song a prayer for the unborn and his dark style of music suggests he is not religious. Awesome song, i love it i can't believe hardly anyone knows Numan
