New Frontier Lyrics

Bleeding you dry from the start
The sum of my parts
To give it away
New life in a day
Some new Frankenstein
Damned for all time

Cursed by the angel who fell
Who saves me from hell?
And who is my god?
And where is my soul?
Too tired to jump too young to run

[Bridge:]
Neverending, forever searching
Chasing dreams, the dreams of my heart
Always seeking, always asking
Questions right from the start

[Chorus:]
Out beyond the new frontier
Playing god without mercy, without fear
Create a beast, made a man without a soul
Is it worth the risk - a war of god and man?
Is it worth the risk - a war of god and man?

I want to end my life now
But I don't know how
Recycled again a lifetime of pain
The spawn of a man
The devil has planned

[Repeat bridge, chorus]

Has anyone ever read "Bloodtide" by Melovin Burgess? I think they made this song about it, or there are some odd coincidences: "Playing God without mercy without fear" the people act as though they are God by creating life and the such, and show no remorse "Chasing dreams" the characters all have dreams, as that's the point of books in general "Create a beast" people creat man-beasts to keep the gangsters in London "made a man without a soul" enough said. They make a man without a soul "a war of god and man" there is war and man and god get caught up in it, though not much god, but enough. "new Frankenstein" they creat a man without a soul "I want to end my life now" I'm not sure, as I haven't read it for a while, but I think the main woman wants to end her life for quite a while, but doesn't "The spawn of a man, the devil has planned" The man created is pure evil

So yeah, it might be about that book

new frontier is about cloning and creating life in such a way, i read it in the programme when i went to see maiden in december.

i lovve this album and all the songs in it.

i thought it was about cloning when i first heard the song.

"create a beast, made a man without a soul"

  • its trying to say that people have a soul, because they are born the way "God" intended. creating a clone, does it have a soul? would it be just an empty human? would it be human at all?

"the spawn of a man, the devil has planned"

  • so called "god" didnt intend people to be born this way. the devils plan, making man think he is as powerful as "god". thus man is on the path of destruction. which brings us neatly onto "is it worh the risk, a war of god and man"

it is a song to do with science vs religion

yeh ive read that book and it might be based on it. Nicko McBrain had a part in writing this song

This is a great song and it's the only song Nicko ever wrote after being in the band for 20 freakin' years!

Nicko is catholic, thats why the song makes references to the religion and has a more religious point of view. Maybe Nicko got angry because the track right before this one (Gates Of Tomorrow) is a great critic against religion, and he decided to write this song? Just a theory that a friend said. Makes a little bit of sense.

I think the song is about the dangers of modern science, questioning what truly motivates a scientist.

ya id agree with most people here and say that the song is about cloning in the future (they also wrote an album called a brave new world so that proves that they are interested in the topic) 'create a beast made a man without a sole" that could be a clone 'a war of god and man' that could be how man wants to create clones but religion is against that.
