This song is about secrets. Deep, intimate secrets. The specific secret(s) Devin is talking about don't matter because we can only guess at them. He tells us only a little and only vaguely. This is on purpose because secrets are secrets and he doesn't really want to tell us. Thus, the song ends abruptly. Don't try to get inside; these things are all just things. And these things aren't yours.

This is the first and only song that has come close to making me cry. Very emotional.
So beautiful song. Really impressive.
I think this song is about losing love to death and lamenting the fact. The song deals with the internal tear up and struggle of losing someone you love so much to death. But after all these feelings and situations are all just things, and there are more things beyond them to consider and help accept death.
I think it's about how dreams of love/romance are always better than the real thing - knowing that you've got everything you always wanted but still having that uncomfortable feeling deep down that something isn't right, and feeling you'd still rather be in your own world.
I always interpreted this song as something else entirely. I know that Devin is bisexual, and I kind of thought this song was related to that sexuality. This sick, ugly attraction to guys. Wrong, effeminate, and just plain ugly. Repressed and suffocated, thus creating this ugly rotting corpse that's essentially half of your being. :P

yeah, it has to be psychological repression - and the shit that comes with it. or at least that is what the song means to me (without being gay or bisexual in any way.. actually I had no idea that devin was until now).
