All I Ever Wanted Lyrics
I lie here alone and wonder why
That I come alive, just before I have to hide.
Because I believe I'm losing my nerve
But could I ever do better than this
Because all I ever wanted was a place to call my home
To shelter me when I am there and to miss me when I'm gone
All I ever wanted was a place to call my own
Where stars will dance and sun still shines and the storms feel free to roam
I listen if only for a while
But I can't decide if I'm aware that I'm on trial
If there's a way to a liberty, then lead me straight to it
If there's a path or a door I missed, then show me now, show me this
Feel free when I am gone
That I come alive, just before I have to hide.
But could I ever do better than this
To shelter me when I am there and to miss me when I'm gone
All I ever wanted was a place to call my own
Where stars will dance and sun still shines and the storms feel free to roam
But I can't decide if I'm aware that I'm on trial
If there's a path or a door I missed, then show me now, show me this

I think it's about somebody who fucked up their life and they wanna go back and change it.
I don't think it necessarily has to be about a vampire, although I think that interpretation (the way is was described here) is quite moving, and beautiful. The way a vampire would want a normal life and everything, that's a very touching interpretation. I like it, really.
I lie here alone and wonder why That I come alive, just before I half to hide.
I think it could be just a regular person who is living a life they're not happy with (due to bad descisions), but perhaps everytime they try to move away from it, the fear of the unknown, the new, or maybe a life they once had that they no longer live, makes them step back.
Because I believe I'm losing my nerve But could I ever do better than this
The thing about losing your nerve kind of shows their fear of going into a regular, happy way of living. The next line shows their own self-doubt in themselves. It could be because they've always lived this way and they don't know if they can 'do better than this', or they tried to live that way and failed, and they don't think they'll ever be good enough for a normal life.
Because all I ever wanted was a place to call my home To shelter me when I am there and to miss me when I'm gone All I ever wanted was a place to call my own Where stars may dance and sun still shines and the storms feel free to roam
Daydreaming about what they want. They want someone to care about them and, of course, miss them when they're gone. A place to call your own not only means a home, but people to care about him and just the feeling of belonging. Not belonging and being accepted by everyone, but by someone.
Not sure what the next lines mean. Maybe it means he listens to what other people think of him, but he's not sure if he's going to listen to their judgements and motivate himself to do something or just stay where he is.
If there's a way to a remedy then lead me straight to it If there's a path or a door I missed , then show me now, show me this
Very simple. He's saying that he'll take any option or a hint of what to do to get him to the life he covets. If there is something he hasn't thought of, he's hoping someone could show him that.
feel free when I am gone
Maybe gone from the life he is currently leading. He just wants to be free, and he'll feel this way if he can break away.
Hell yeah, man. ^ You took the words right outta my mouth. Exactly what I felt about the song.
It's NOT about a vampire, I assure you.
If I sum up my idea, it's this - All he wanted in his life was a place to call home. A place of his own, away from the pain, mistakes, and misery which has clearly followed him thus far.
I think it sounds like a person with angermanagement issues. He/she wants a place to call home, with people he/she cares about and likes, but then reality kicks in and heshe just wants a place where heshe can be alone and release the rage(storms still free to roam). Also fits in with the last words as people with aggressive persons in their life might feel more free if they would be gone. On annother note the vampire interpretion does sound pretty convinsing aswell..
I think it's about a vampire. In the first lines, he lies in his coffin right at sunset - right before he comes "alive". Vampires are completely dead during the day. At night, they are undead. But right as he comes alive (undead) at sunset, he knows he has to go out and hide from the world.
The chorus is about the vampire's torment with his need for blood. And his desire to go back to how things were before he was made. "all I ever wanted was a place to call my home". It has two meanings. As his vampire self, he just wants a safe place to hide during the day, and to miss him at night when he's gone. But he is also yearning for his old life. All he ever wanted in his old life was a home, probably a wife and 2 kids, and wanted them to miss him when he was at work.
"If there's a way to a remedy then lead me straight to it". He wants a cure for his vampiric curse.
"If there's a path or a door I missed, then show me now, show me this." He thinks he might have missed an opportunity to find a cure.
i agree about the vampire thing
THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS VAMPIRES!
THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS VAMPIRES!
The lyrics are in fact wrong, the line that reads: If there's a way to a remedy then lead me straight to it Should actually read: If theres a way to a liberty, then lead me straight to it
UH NO THEY'RE NOT YA FUCKIN IDIOT?!
