I love the middle eight w "keep me safe today and tonight" they build up to the wall of sound and oh man when they get there its magical.

Not sure what the song means - perhaps about wanting out of a so-called 'natural' relationship, such as a marriage.
Still, it's one of my favourite by the Manics - understated and beautiful.
It's a simple, but effective lyric. Be natural, not contrived, be yourself, don't act unnaturally
I think this is about the world expecting you to behave in a certain way, to be cool, not to show much emotions, to be rough... And if you are natural, they make fun of you.
Reminds me of "The Idiot" by Dostoyevski: a guy who tried to live by common sense, disregarding the social rules.
