Succexy Lyrics

Lonesome for no one when
the room was empty and
war as we knew it was obsolete
Nothing could beat complete denial

All we do is talk, sit, switch screens
as the homeland plans enemies

All we do is talk, static split screens
As the homeland plans enemies

Invasion’s so succexxy

Let’s drink to the military
The glass is empty
Faces to fill and cars to feed
Nothing could beat complete denial

All we do is talk, sit, switch screens
As the homeland plans enemies

All we do is talk, static split screens
As the homeland plans enemies

Invasion’s so succexxy

passive attraction, programmed reaction
passive attraction, programmed reaction
action distraction, more information
flesh saturation, lips on a napkin
ass ass ass

where does the time go?
we’re waking up so slowly
days are horizontal lately
out of body, watched from above
out of body, watched from above

passive attraction, programmed reaction
more information, cash masturbation
follow the pattern- the hemlines, the headlines
action distraction,faster than fashion
faster than fashion,faster than fashion

Lonesome for no one when
the room was empty and
war as we knew it was obsolete
Nothing could beat denial

The use of "sexy" has come to mirror that which used to be defined as "powerful." While it's true that sex can be used as power, the notion of sex equaling power is now a commonplace western truism.

Seymore Hersh (A writer for the New Yorker) wrote in his report on the Special Forces landing in Afghanistan that the staged nature of the attacks made for exciting television footage, calling it "sexy stuff."

What is sexy about guns? What is sexy about blood spilled over tactical targets and political leaders? The power which these images convey has been equated with the power sex holds over the same men (mostly) in peacetime.

The disappointing underlying failure in this paradox is that the very mechanism by which our only information about wartime is conveyed (the media) is served by making this comparison. Inconstani hit the nail on the head; Sex sells. That which can be made sexy or associated with sex will draw the consumer to what could normally be regarded as morbid, disturbing and moraly corrupt.

There are less damaging examples of this cultural simile in the advertising world. The Europeans spearheaded the sex sells movement but did (and does) so with a certain responsibility to it's patrons; the West, unfortunately, has shed it's intimidation of responsibility in this way and promotes (gamourizes) sex. The good-natured tongue-in-cheek nature is gone; sex is power.

has anybody heard about the hemline theory? i think it's the inspiration for this song, the hemline theory is when hemlines went higher when the economy went higher (early twenties, early sixties), and hemlines went down when the economy went down (great depression late twenties)

hahaha. i never thought it was succulent and sexy. It's always seemed like successful and sexy combined. Invasion's not succulent....or is it? They're referencing to the allure of invasion. She's doing this whole big metaphor of war equaling sex. Invasion is successful and sexy in war....and successful and sexy in sex. That's how it seems to me.

"Invasion's so succexy" reminds me of that britney spears interview when she's asked about her views on the war in iraq and on bush, "Invasion's so succexy" sounds to me like a sarcastic response to her comments. "we should support our president? invasion is so sexy."

Is it just me or does this song remind anyone else of 1984? I just finished reading it last week and I was listening to this song and so much of it reminded me of the society from the book.

For example:

"Nothing could beat complete denial"

Everyone is in denial about how controlling their government is. When people are 'vaporized' people ignore it.

"All we do is talk, sit, switch screens as the homeland plans enemies"

The screens are an obvious reference to the telescreens. Also, Oceania is always changing the enemies from Eurasia to Eastasia and vice versa.

"passive attraction, programmed reaction passive attraction, programmed reaction action distraction, more information"

Since everyone is in denial, they need to fake their reactions and filter out their mind. Double think. thats what programmed reaction means.

"where does the time go? we’re waking up so slowly"

The government is always erasing history, hence "where does the time go?"

Is this only making sense to me? Feedback would be appreciated.

@Nacksis I thought of Fahrenheit 451. The society is very sheep-like, and that sounds a lot lie what you said.

Okay, this song is talking about how literally "all we do is talk, sit, switch screens(watch TV)" and do un-important things..when our governement is just starting/fighting wars. When she says "Invasions so succexy" Im sure she's being sarcastic....

We were in denail that war was obsolete. The "homeland" here I'm assuming is the US and it's allies (Britain, etc.) They plan our enemies, (Iraq, Afganistan) and tell us what to fight. We are consumers who devour everything, "follow the pattern- the hemlines, the headlines action distraction, faster than fashion faster than fashion, faster than fashion".

Yeah, deaddisco is one smart cookie. This song is about a world corrupted with war, and you can only avoid sadness by denial.

i like the line "passive attraction, programed reaction" because we're all too passive to war, and our reactions are so stereotypical. we feel bad, but what can we do?

extremely good song.

In the song "succexy" sounds like she's saying "so so sexy"... what do you think this word is supposed to mean? Is it a combination of the words "success" and "sexy"?
