A Devil In God's Country Lyrics

Down south soldier
Third world soldier
My vengeance will be swift and terrible
Many will die.
I am the distance between two points
Forgotten. A Void.
I dig holes brother.
Well, I've got a bone to pick
And a nerve to pluck
A skin to get under
And a home to wreck.
I've got ends to meet
So I've got a job to do.
Acrimonious and sanctified
Call me what you will.
Stick to your guns
The difference is mine are loaded.
Taste the sting of your arrogance
Stuck in this screeching bitch called life
Drop the coins and send you to Charon.
I will have my vengeance
In this life or the next.
Well, I've got a sucker to punch
And a back to stab
A head to kick in
And a throat to toslit.
I've got a job to do
Harsh and unrepentant.
Step back before you're the next to get served
With some Southern hospitality.

i think it could be about how both soliders in two armys fighting each other are both in the same situation, niether of them is "right or wrong" its just the path theyv been lead down by the rulers of their countries. or something like that.

My Interpretation

i think its about fighting of an invasion of sorts, being protective of your land and proctecting it at all costs, for him its the south, but they are from virginia, is virginia considered the south?

I dont know, but I cant stand all that southern pride bullshit. You're from the south get over it. But I think you're on a lead with your meaning. Sounds right to me.

I believe this song is a description of death. If you look he mentions 2 soldiers, not just 1. Ones obviously from the south, the other is from a third world country. This song is about what deaths job is in a war, most likely that occuring in Iraq. And yes Virginia is considered the south.

Hmm, actually now looking at it again and comparing the lyrics to the title it may be talking about a terrorist. Tymothy Mcvay could be the down south soldier he's talking about. Third world is obvious (Osama perhaps?) The rest is about death.

I agree with slayerofpop, I agree, the song is about Timothy McVay (although most of it, could apply to any terrorist), but I disagree with the Osama Bin Laden link.

I don't think Randy is talking about two seperate people, rather, he is describing the way that the same guy views himself. He is from Oklahoma (down south soldier), but he also believes that, due to the way the government has raped the land he loves, it has become a third world, of sorts and he views himself as a latter-day savior, for the people that the government has betrayed.

I feel the part about "Stick to your guns, The difference is mine are loaded", is about how the government keeps making excuses and empty promises, to justify the way that it treats the people, all the time knowing that there is no truth to any of it, while he has total conviction in what he is doing and that, this is what makes him (and indeed, all terrorists) so dangerous, they feel that the path they have chosen, was no choice at all, rather it was forced upon them, by a ruling body that was unwilling to bend in it's totalitarian rule over the people and that has stripped them of all but their skin, leaving them with no other option but to strike back.

"When you' got nothing, you' got nothing to lose".

Sweet Christ, are these the kind of people who listen to America's greatest metal band? Pitiful.

It's about Bush. All of it applies to Bush. BUSH, you fucking simpletons, you know, invader of Iraqi HOMES, SLITter of Iraqi THROATS, the man Randy Blythe probably hates more than Hilter?

I say again: Pitiful.
