Everybody Out Of The Water Lyrics

On your mark
Get set let’s go
You got to move now
Before she explodes
Look out the window
Lookout below
Back away from the glass
There she blows
The city’s been leveled
The hills are in flames
The streets cracked open
And they’re pushing up clay
The temperature’s dropped
The Sky is gray
And it ain’t even over
Here comes driving rain
It ain’t me
That you feel
There’s something moving
Around in here
That’s blood
That’s tears
This ain’t a warning...

Everybody out of the water
And up on dry land
Take what you can
(Take what you can)
Cause you won’t be here again
Everybody out of the water

Now I’m treading high water
To get back to you
Been looking for a little spot
Or something to cling to
There’s too many bodies

There’s not enough room
God help me
And God help you
They say nobody panic
Help is on it’s way
We’re already on it
You’ve got to be brave
If you can fix it now
Then don’t make us wait
Man there ain’t nobody coming
Back away from the gates
That bell
That you hear
That’s hell
Ringing in your ears
I fear
That my dear
This ain’t a warning…

Everybody out of the water
And up on dry land
Take what you can
(Take what you can)
Cause you won’t be here again
(Cause you won't be here again)
And I loved you then
(Loved you then)
Like I love you now
(Love you now)
That won't matter anyhow
This is the new frontier
Everybody out of the water

Now I’m looking up
And the shit keeps coming
Like shooting ducks
In a barrel of honey
Got to learn how to pray
Love won’t be enough
Admit it now
Your information sucks
As I slip
Down in
I think of us someplace
High on a mountain
Smoke clears
The fog lifts
Little by little
We rebuild again
But till’ then…

Everybody out of the water
(Everybody out)
And up on dry land
Take what you can
(Take what you can)
Cause you won’t be here again
(Cause you won't be here again)
And I loved you then
(Loved you then)
Like I love you now
(Love you now)
That won't matter anyhow
Well this is the new frontier
Everybody out of the water

Yeah, a great song. ...but it's not too clear what it means. Obviously, a disaster has struck... like an atom-bomb level disaster. But what's this "love won't be enough" business? Kind of a bitter attitude... Maybe love doesn't work so well in "the new frontier?" Hmm... maybe the new frontier is the disaster. Maybe he's saying love doesn't work in this day and age. So, everybody out of the water... ?

"Man there ain’t nobody coming Back away from the gates That bell That you hear That’s hell Ringing in your ears I fear That my dear This ain’t a warning…"

That part means its prolly one of the worst storms possible....but what the storm could be is multiple things: could be a vast metaphor or very literal, I'm not too sure. However it basically states that in times of great chaos....love isnt going to matter, its not powerful enough to save oneself, its that simple. The gate reference meant no ones coming back, but that makes sense if they all die....so I'm not too sure.

This song could be anything to tell you the truth lol

Is Jakob Dylan a Clearence Clearwater Revival fan? It's an intriguing song about some apocalyptic disaster.

I don’t think this is about an actual disaster but a disastrous relationship. It's metaphor. It' about his relationship and relationships in general. How they can be ultimately bad and destructive and selfish.

The disaster is metaphor for the relationship ending badly and that after a bad realationship you really only have youreself left to rebuild your broken heart after the one you trusted and loved and still loved did you so wrong.

At least that's my opinion...but maybe I'm just seeing that because I can relate to that, lol.

If it wasn't for the fact that the song was released in 2002 it seems like it would be about hurricane katrina. "They say nobody panic Help is on its way Were already on it Youve got to be brave If you can fix it now Then dont make us wait" and "Admit it now Your information sucks" sound like FEMA references, but unless jakob dylan has a time machine i'd have to go with the ending of a relationship as the meaning.

This song is about the beginning of the apocalypse.

The "She" is the Harlot of Babylon, who is mentioned by St John in the book of Revelations.

"Before she explodes Look out the window Lookout below Back away from the glass There she blows The city's been leveled"

This song rocks.
