Who Can See It Lyrics
I've been held up,
I've been run down
I can see quite clearly now
through those past years,
when I played towing the line.
I only ask, that what I feel,
should not be denied me now,
As it's been earned, and
I have seen my life belongs to me
My love belongs to who can see it
I've lived in fear,
I've been out there,
I've been 'round and
seen my share
of this sad world
And all the hate,
that it's stirred
I only ask,
that what I know,
should not be denied me now
As it's been learned,
And I have seen my life belongs to me
My love belongs to who can see it
I only ask, that what I feel,
should not be denied me now
As it's been earned, and
I have seen my life belongs to me
My love belongs to who can see it.
My love belongs to who . . .
I've been run down
I can see quite clearly now
through those past years,
when I played towing the line.
I only ask, that what I feel,
should not be denied me now,
As it's been earned, and
I have seen my life belongs to me
My love belongs to who can see it
I've been out there,
I've been 'round and
seen my share
of this sad world
And all the hate,
that it's stirred
I only ask,
that what I know,
should not be denied me now
As it's been learned,
And I have seen my life belongs to me
My love belongs to who can see it
should not be denied me now
As it's been earned, and
I have seen my life belongs to me

The song meaning of this, or the reason behind the song, is because he was pretty hurt by his friends the bullies Paul and John. They never saw his potential. He even says so, through those past years, i can see clearly now. He knew his potential once he was free solo to make his own music. It is indeed very sad and touching. Definitely my favorite beatle.
This is a beautiful song
Possibly the greatest song ever written. But to love it you have to have lived and still want to live and at the same time know how to die.
What a song! What sadness. What a triumph! Up there with Handel's Messiah.
How do you do it in three minutes? Beats me. Harrison is the god he searched for all his life.
As Tpeck put it so beautifully, this is one of the best and most important songs ever written. These words (set to this gorgeous and yet complex melody) lay out THE ANSWER for real Peace in your own world...the moment that we all STOP being victims for the ruling elite "out there" to rule over, and take CONTROL of our own lives, the whole world will change eternally for the better.
Remember this...we all lose when we believe that we need to be governed by others...we DON'T...we don't need Governments at all, they need US!
God bless to George wherever he is soaring thru the Universe and to all you my brothers...we are all ONE grand Consciousness!
@CharlieFreak, so happy to read your and @tpeck's wise comments on this wonderful song. I find very few people are familiar with George's solo work beyond 'All Things Must Pass,' 'Cloud 9,' and his stuff with the Traveling Wilburys. Good to read thoughtful commentary on his less known, but no less excellent, work.
