Hall Of Mirrors Lyrics

I come down like a hurricane sucked up inside
I spit out the suffer
You say you want a revelation
Well, revel in this my lover
You're free at liberty is this what you want?
Sometimes I wonder...

There's a highway to
The edge once a night you will drive yourself there
At the end of the road you will find the answer
At the end of the road you will drink the fear

I come down like a bloody
Rain cuts up flesh sky, pulse beating
Under meat petals bloom in a bone garden
Ain't no god, no ghost gonna save you now
I sell souls at the side of the road
Would you like to take a number
Take your time come get what you
Come for don't waste my time
Come get what you come for
I watched you burn in the eye of my sun
I fucked you in the eye of my sun

I have been listening to this song a lot recently and while I was driving on the free way in silence, it dawned on me that most of the words are really raw words and they all involve some straight forward depictions individually and are tied together with other descriptors. Such as meat and bone being tied together with petals, bloom, and garden. This happens throughout the song and I am under the impression that it is quite intentional - which only makes this song more amazing.

The words that are not tying things together are also words that point towards mortality in various ways, such as references to the human body or general destruction, or even god and ghosts.

I am pretty sure that this song is about the inevitability that everything comes to an end and how you should try and find beauty in the ugly things as we journey down this road to the edge and only then do you have to really worry about something coming to a true end.

I'm not too sure about what it actually means but the lyrics have good metaphors in them and I like it!

felt i needed to say something cuz no 1 really has and this song means a lot to me in my own interpretation...................

this is a really about brody herself if u think about it, however it could be interpretated in your own way.

its a song about Self Accomplishment, Finding Yourself /Own way in Life and achieving happiness or a goal. thats what the choruses are mainly sayin(read teh lyrics)

the verses could almost be completely different,

''I come down like a hurricane, suck up inside and spit out the suffer'' -my favourite line ever.

this is brody talking about how she performs powerful, agressive songs that often reflect her own sufferings or experiences.

''U say u want a revelation, revel in this my lover.Your Free at liberty, is this what you want, sometimes i wonder''

personally i think this is about her talking to her fans. shes grown up alot in this record and although still punk, i think shes matured to a sense of understanding. Kids are asking for revelations in her lyrics to feed their minds, to expect to be more punk, and shes saying that its not all about that, theres more to it than this.(read the lyrics again and give it a think)

'' i com down like a bloody rain cuts up a flesh sky, a pulse beating under''

again about her agressive performance and stature etc

''meat petals bloom in a bone garden, aint no god no ghost gonna save you now. i sell souls in the side of the street, would u like to take a number?''

harder to interpretate, but i think the general meaning is about sin, wrong doing and how fucked up everything is in evey way (LA, etc) The line about sellingsouls and having to take a number emphasises the idea of queueing to get a soul, theres so many ppl needing one, etc.

To me this song seems like it is about having to get through problems yourself like

"there's a highway to The edge once a night you will drive yourself there At the end of the road you will find the answer"

seems like shes saying somethin like she cant fix anyone elses problems you have to work them out yourself...

Actually i think it's about her in a relationship, maybe with tim He is depressed or bringing the world down upon himself, beating himself up and mildly blaming it on her. She goes, alright so i'll come down like a disaster and what will you do? Its sarcastic, maybe comenting her disastorous breakup with tim? Also talking about his self destruction that will sooner or later happen; also i make references to The little shop of horrors, that plant that drained him out. "take your time" "dont waste mine" Her telling him to grow up heh.

I agree with asktheangels that this song is about brody....just for the part where she sings "meat petals bloom in a bone garden" i always imagined it would be about her overcoming anorexia "aint no god, no ghost gonna save you now" she realised she had to make it on her own "don't waste my time, come on get what you come for" i basically get that she hates being fucked around...simple?

i dont know :o) i think the highway is a metaphor for when you're up late at night thinking about something that you really want to resolve. "the edge" being the edge of your sanity? (so to speak) "drink the fear" meaning taking it in, accepting it and getting over it???

meh thats the best i can do at the moment considering how tired i am....distillers fucking rock! brody has such a harsh voice, so much raw emotion, so inspiring - i love it!

This song could mean anything and I would love it. I especially like the final part where the whole band gets in on it.

it's like the only break-up song on Coral Fang, it's about Tim Armstrong and how he was such a prick to her and drove to be independent
