I didn't realize what the video was about until the second time i watched it, then it gave me chills:D:D
Notice that the newspaper she throws is about a man dying--that is why she is crying. Notice that he is talking but she doesn't have any clue. The huge hint is when she walks through the milk: she has footprints, while the man doesn't. As far as I can see, they are young couple, just got married you know, its very tragdgic he dies...(notice the shirts--they went to hawai:D) He doesnt want her to go through this, he's wishing she woud unclench her fists you know...he knows they will be together someday...doesn't want her to go through this suffering...another hint was when you can't see him in her rear veiw mirror. And in the end, she dies too. So uh, it's kind of good...weird...I think it was a really cool video idea though! When they walk away together you see in the newspaper stand an article about his death. She has to die, which is weird, but at least they are together in the end. So anyway, yeah: he's a ghost.
@SkilletRock I think that sometimes the videos they make for a song aren't necessarily what the song is about. I mean, in the video, he dies and she is left behind, eventually committing suicide. But the song doesn't actually have to be about that. It could be a broken relationship (why didn't we see the signs...how did we get here?)

by me watching the video i say the guy is dead so the girl commit suicide by stopping her car in the middle of the street so she can be with her boyfriend and thats how they are together at the end. also in the newspaper it says tragic accident and it show the face of the guy
okay i love this song but what i dont get is the end she walks away n its like people see her n she walks over to him he hugs her but y does she walk away n he fade if she was dead wouldnt they fade together thats what i dont get
well maybe it was like when you miss someone and you see a disillusion of that person and you want to hug them but it's to late their gone you can't get them back

@songlover92 I know it's been a long time since you posted, but I agree with what you say. It does seem that the crowd, gathered at the accident scene, does watch her pass them. Weirder still is that she feels his loving presence as he stands behind her and puts his hands on her shoulders. After a brief moment she walks away from him and out of the shot. He disappears and then it's revealed that he died in a traffic accident, we assume, on a bridge. She didn't disappear with him as Wiki states. Perhaps her body was suspended...

this video gave me the chills. i had to watch it 3 times to let it all sink in. b4 the video i thought it was about a boy and a girl in a fight and he's sayin he wants to make it right but he's so busy and he juss can't seem to work on their relationship even though he does was to. the girls goin through hell and he's feelin bad about it but he can't seem to think much about it. i dunno if that made any sense to ya'll but that's how i felt about it.
I haven't seen the video yet, and I think of it the way rockerchick did. once i listened to it, about 94 times straight when my gf and me were goin' through some hard times.
i thought the video was amazing. i loved it. the song, although good, has been very overplayed. it's another one of those songs that's good at first and then after about the millionith time you've heard it you want to smash the radio.

But basically they had a fight and she see's that he had a car accident in the paper? and they had had a fight before hand and they didnt make up before he died? So she goes out with the intention to kill hersef? and his ghost self tries to stop her, so she goes and gets in a car crash and dies. Thats how a the end they can hug finally and she can har him :') hope that help!! :D x

I understand the video... i fink.... well, da man is dead even at da beginin thats y she cudnt c him in the reflection or the milk didnt trail behind him wen he stud in it... den at the end they are both joined together wen she dies.... dats wot i fink neway..... DIS IS ONE OF DA BEST SONGZ EVA!!
The video is way different than my interp. of the song. But I guess it makes perfect sense. It was a very sad video. I like the song, but yeah, it is way overplayed.
