his girlfriend is a frustrating bitch and he is sick of her. she's ignoring this whole problem. the fact that he's sick of her and he doesn't want her anymore.
It's about breaking up and going your separate ways but he's not happy about it. He's just accepting it because he doesn't have a choice and fighting it will only push her away faster. So to cut out all the waiting and ups and downs he's just going to push her away first.

Great song with a strong 80's feel to it.
i think this song means that the guy wants to break up with his girlfriend but he doesnt want it to be a sad situation. I think this line "But that's not your problem That's not a problem That's not my problem That's not your problem." means that theres nothing they could do to make it work, they just werent meant for eachother, and that its better to be apart and be happy than together and unhappy. but thats just my interpretation:)

Am I the only one who thinks this song might be about an abortion? She's pregnant, while she's sleeping the "problem will stay" and then the abortion is scheduled, so maybe that's the accident that's planned today. Saying goodbye to the life we won't spend together could be realizing they're never gonna get married and have a family and all of that. The chorus about him saying he wishes it wasn't true could be that he doesn't want her to get an abortion, but that's just how it's gonna happen. And then the abortion happens and it's neither of their problems. I guess this could be reading too much into it, but as soon as I heard the "accidents happen" line I started thinking about this.
