The Ghosts of Me and You Lyrics
I’ve been down
Wandering past 2nd Street and looking at the ghosts
Of you and me and thinking back on all those memories
Of how we used to be
I’ve been hearing
I hear those voices over the noises of the breaking glass
And all those plans we had to get us through,
They’re never coming true
I hope and hope
That you won’t forget
I’m hoping
Hope you know that
I can clearly see
The ghosts of you and me
And I’m a moved on memory
And you’re still alive
And I’m still getting by
On these dead end streets
The ghosts of you and me
I’m still talking, talk of what we’ll do
To the ghosts of me and you
And I’m still looking back into the past
When we were all we had
I hope and hope
That you won’t forget
I’m hoping
Hope you know that
I hope you won’t forget
I hope you know that I’ll always regret
Those things I’ve said
I hope you know that I can clearly see
The ghosts of you and me
And you’re still alive
And I’m still getting by
On these dead end streets
The ghosts of you and me
Wandering past 2nd Street and looking at the ghosts
Of you and me and thinking back on all those memories
Of how we used to be
I hear those voices over the noises of the breaking glass
And all those plans we had to get us through,
They’re never coming true
That you won’t forget
I’m hoping
Hope you know that
The ghosts of you and me
And I’m a moved on memory
And I’m still getting by
On these dead end streets
The ghosts of you and me
To the ghosts of me and you
And I’m still looking back into the past
When we were all we had
That you won’t forget
I’m hoping
Hope you know that
I hope you know that I’ll always regret
Those things I’ve said
I hope you know that I can clearly see
And you’re still alive
And I’m still getting by
On these dead end streets
The ghosts of you and me

I love this song. It reminds me very much of when I broke up with me boyfriend and everything I did reminded me of the way things were when we were still together. That's basically what the song is about, looking back and not being able to forget about memories of a lost love. p.s - I can't believe no one commented on this song yet!
*my boyfriend
This is probably the best song off the new cd. It's all avout moving on with life, but not forgetting the past. The narrator's friend left him...and he's walking where they used to go together and remember all the great times they had.
i love this song, it really is one of my favourite less than jake songs :D
is it just me, or does it sound like he sais 'dead head' not 'dead end'. but less than jake always shove random 'h's before words, so it might just be pronounced 'dead h'end'. for instance 'h'emergency' (TSSYS)) and 'h'insecurities' (plastic cup politics). part of the reason i love less than jake so much... this song is the best! love less than jake forever more...
This is my favorite LTJ song. The chorus is so sick.
This is a fucking awesome song to see live.
haha. I love mairi for pointing out the h thing to me.
It's about the guy, and just a guess but i think he's talking to an ex girlfriend or something. He's telling her that he can't stop remembering all the shit that they did together, and that he doesn't want her to forget it, because it wasn't something that's worth forgetting. It was a big enough deal to remember because it there was probably something to it. And most of all, he doesn't want her to forget him.
I think it's about a guy that really loves a girl but was in hard times and going nowhere and she finally got tired of it and left him but he is tortured by the memories of them together and he's going insane and can hear those voices of them talking about what they're going to do to make things better as he breaks glass out of anger.
