Best Wishes to Your Black Lung Lyrics

By this time tomorrow
You’ll be out on the streets of Chicago
Walking all the way home from commuter trains

By this time tomorrow
You’ll be back at home in Chicago
At the bars until they close
Back at places that you’ve known and
It’ll be skylines and rooftops
And it’s gonna be crowded tourist stops

So it’s goodbye
To your brand new life
So it’s good luck
Best wishes to your black lung

By this time tomorrow
You’ll be walking home thru Chicago
Past the nine to five crowds underneath
Those unused fire escapes
By this time tomorrow
You’ll be at the bars in Chicago
Back with people that you know
Going places you used to go
It’s gonna be skylines and rooftops
And it’s gonna be crowded tourist stops

So it’s goodbye
To your brand new life
So it’s good luck
Best wishes to your black lung
So when you’re leaving the party just to beat the crowd
Just make sure that you’re the first one out

haha great song this one. not one of there best but again this one were roger is it in aswell witch makes this song just that bit better! the lyrics could suggest a couple of things i think its basicly talking to all the smokers out there but the irony is that pretty much all of LTJ are smokers!

I don't know what it means but it's so energetic! I love it! The first Less Than Jake album I bought was Anthem after hearing just the one song, The Science Of Selling Yourself Short and it was so good that I'm going out and buying all the old stuff because it rocks just as hard.

I love this song. I kind of took it as meaning you've done something for so long the same that it will just end up hurting you.

WOW all of you are really not very big LTJ fans. I know for a fact off of an interview what its about. Its about the ex trombone player "Pete", who moved to chicago and became a teacher so HA you ignorant fools!

I didn't see that interview but I did figure that out on my own because on my website it says that Pete moved to Chicago. I just love this song coz I'm originally from there, and miss it every day, so I definitely love this song.

njdfan1241 is wrong. The song Best Wishes to your Black Lung is indeed written for "Pete," Pete Anna that is...any real ltj fan would know that Pete Anna was the trombone player for Less Than Jake up until their release of Borders And Boundaries. He then left the band and moved to Chicago to become a firefighter. And suddenly the song makes so much more sense. Coincidently, Borders and Boundaries was also the last album with Derron Nuhfer on saxophone. You is the ig'nant drongo.

Okay, Pete Anna was only on Hello Rockview and Borders and Boundaries. He was not an original member of the horn section. It started as Jessica (alto sax) and Buddy (trombone). Then Derron (baritone sax) came in for Losing Streak through B&B. Pete Anna played trombone in Slapstick (a chicago band no less) and took Jessica's place after Lars from Skankin' Pickle filled in on tour.

Well I didn't see that interview so there. Anyway, it's not a competition about who's the biggest LTJ fan.
