The Space Between Lyrics
Now that you're older
Taking the time to look
Back over your shoulder
On the days confusion took
Now that you're wiser
Surely you've learned to read it
You should know
No surface shines brighter
Than the light that burns beneath it
Never so sure
We always take more
Though we still don't know what it's for
Now that I've seen you
Stripped to the very core
I know that I need you
Less than I did before
Never so sure
We always take more
Though we still don't know what it's for
Taking the time to look
Back over your shoulder
On the days confusion took
Surely you've learned to read it
You should know
No surface shines brighter
Than the light that burns beneath it
We always take more
Though we still don't know what it's for
Stripped to the very core
I know that I need you
Less than I did before
We always take more
Though we still don't know what it's for

We earthlings love & need, or so we think, other humans. Depending of the ones you choose, this could well be your undoing/end.
"No surface shines brighter Than the light that burns beneath it"
Beware the ones who profess to contribute so much to you, yet really don't. They want a follower/worshiper. They, are broken & you cannot fix them. They need professional help.
This song is about the person who realized this just in time, though is still sad for the end.
PS: no voodoo/gods required-- this is about PEOPLE.
amazing. if you have heard this song, then you will know what i mean. superficiality, that is what this song is about. when you realize that someone is shallow, you see them for what they are for: nothing. if you have been in a relationship like this before, then you know exactly what i am talking about. it takes time to become more aware of how the world and people work. no other comments needed.
"alcohol lubricates the brain."

To me, this song is about a lost opportunity to be with someone. Now that the opportunity is lost, it is too late to ever be with that person.
The singer (Tina Dico) and the fellow had an opportunity to be together, but there was confusion and uncertainty at the time. Now that time has passed, hindsight is 20/20. He should know that he missed out, "No surface shines brighter, Than the light that burns beneath it."
After time has passed, she encounters him, but he's changed. Instead of being with her, he chose another path that had left him weathered and worn, he lost his verve. She realizes she doesn't need him anymore.
The space between the time they had a chance together, to the day she saw him again.. made them strangers, instead of lovers.
This means to me a breaking of the cycle of codependency. I need you less than I did before. Being codependent is like a constant need to have this person around and depend on them. Depending on yourself for the love you need is more important because its almost impossible to give if you dont give it to yourself. Yet, sometimes a persons aura might bring out really great things in you that make you better than you were before you met them, if you have any tendencies to be codependent, you might grow to rely on this over yourself and end up degrading your own self love that was there.
@nuguns1051 I disagree. We were not meant to be solitary creatures. Adam was given Eve. We were created for codependency. Lucky are those that find the one they can depend on, as God intended.

@nuguns1051 I guess you kind of mentioned that. My apologies. Yes, the one we should be dependent on will always make us our best version of ourselves.
