Away From The Sun Lyrics
It's down to this
I've got to make this life make sense
Can anyone tell what I've done
I miss the life
I miss the colors of the world
Can anyone tell where I am
Cause now again I've found myself
So far down
Away from the sun that shines into
The darkest place
I'm so far down
Away from the sun again
Away from the sun again
I'm over this
I'm tired of living in the dark
Can anyone see me down here
The feeling's gone
There's nothing left to lift me up
Back into the world I know
Cause now again I've found myself
So far down
Away from the sun that shines into
The darkest place
I'm so far down
Away from the sun
That shines to light the way for me
To find my way
Back into the arms that care about
The ones like me
I'm so far down
Away from the sun again
It's down to this
I've got to make this life make sense
And now I can't tell what I've done
And now again I've found myself
So far down
Away from the sun that shines
To light the way
For me
Cause now again I've found myself
So far down
Away from the sun that shines into
The darkest place
I'm so far down
Away from the sun
That shines to light the way for me
To find my way
Back into the arms that care about
The ones like me
I'm so far down
Away from the sun again
I'm gone...
I've got to make this life make sense
Can anyone tell what I've done
I miss the life
I miss the colors of the world
Can anyone tell where I am
So far down
Away from the sun that shines into
The darkest place
I'm so far down
Away from the sun again
Away from the sun again
I'm tired of living in the dark
Can anyone see me down here
The feeling's gone
There's nothing left to lift me up
Back into the world I know
So far down
Away from the sun that shines into
The darkest place
I'm so far down
Away from the sun
That shines to light the way for me
To find my way
Back into the arms that care about
The ones like me
I'm so far down
Away from the sun again
I've got to make this life make sense
And now I can't tell what I've done
And now again I've found myself
So far down
Away from the sun that shines

For me
So far down

I'm so far down
Away from the sun
That shines to light the way for me
To find my way

I'm so far down
Away from the sun again

This song is great. It seems to me that the word "sun" actually has two meanings in this song. When he talks about living life "Away From the Sun" it has a double meaning. He is saying that living life without Jesus, the Son of God, is like living in darkness (away from the Son/sun).
In John 8:12, Jesus says "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life".
That's what this song is talking about - how dark and depressing his life is when living away from the Son/sun. Then he talks about how the light (provided by Jesus, the Son of God) guides him "back into the arms that care about the ones like me". He is talking about how the light of Jesus leads him back into the arms of God, where he finds comfort.
Isaiah 40:11 says that God, "... tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arm and carries them close to his heart;" That is the picture I think of when he talks about finding his way "back into the arms that care about the ones like me".
Great song!!!
Ya This is definitely a song about Christ. I talked to the singer and he is a Very Religious Christian. He prays before every show that there music touches people living in darkness and who need something more in there life. He says he can stand in front of the Lord and be proud of his lyrics, because there is no lyrics going against him, the "Negative Lyrics" that they have are sharing stories of problems with the devil, but do not resemble there beliefs in any way. They are Christians, and I am almost positive that this song is...

You are WRONG. The lead singer, Brad Arnold, said: "'Away From The Sun' is just about those days. A really important little short phrase is at the beginning of the chorus. It says, 'Now again I found myself so far down.' You know what I mean? It's like, yet again I've fallen. It's not like just once you're in a hole. It's like, here I am again. You watch the kid in the video, it's over and over, he's at the bottom again. It's like every time he crawls back up someone just pushes him down. And for about a two-to-three year...

And for about a two-to-three year period in my life, I just really felt like that. I didn't even feel like climbing up the hill anymore, because every time I climbed up somebody was gonna push me back down it. And that song is just a reflection of that time period in my life. And thank God it's over. But I just felt away from the sun."
You fail.
Dude, this song is mad awesome. The only thing is every time I hear this song, I kind of get depressed, which I guess is the motive of the song, since the dude sounds like he's freaking suicidal or some shit. Nevertheless, it's a good tune, and I'm surprised that no one has posted a comment yet.
This song is about depression, missing when you enjoyed life but now it isn't great anymore and you feel an emptiness inside, the singer must've been here once before and is now down again and wants to find a way up but he can't seem to find anything that helps anymore... I've been there many times myself, this song is an awesome song, one I can really relate too.
I hate to say this but it seems like to me that this song is all about me, like if someone said what song describes you, i would say Away From the Sun by 3 doors down.
I always had mixed opinions of this song. They include addiction (Alcohol, drugs, anything else), religion, or low self esteem.
'It's down to this I've got to make this life make sense Can anyone tell what I've done I miss the life I miss the colors of the world Can anyone tell where I am'
For addiction, when you look back you miss what you had. In a severe addiction to any substance your body starts to drastically change, you can develop mental illness, have nightmares, lose body functions, twitch, become weak, etc. The singer's character (Or the singer himself), realizes how in what a horrible state he is in and desperately misses his younger body before the addiction. From the lyrics, it could be possible the singer is an adult and has moved out/is living on the street. He is scared because he can't go home/doesn't have one and has no idea where to turn for help.
On the idea of depression, it could mean that he is extremely depressed and misses the days he could be happy. He feels like there is no one to help him through this or to relate, a common feeling during depression.
My opinion of the song being about religion also ties in with depression. The person was probably religious (Or a believer) before (Of any religion, I don't think it really has any real effect.). He is now depressed and is so trapped that any hope he has of 'finding his sun' or 'light at the end of the tunnel' is gone, and so is his faith and religion. He feels like God betrayed him.
'Cause now again I've found myself So far down Away from the sun that shines into The darkest place I'm so far down Away from the sun again Away from the sun again'
Back to addiction. Hopelessness is common in addicts. You feel like after all you've done there's no way you could ever go back to your previous state of being. You are phsyically, mentally physiologically damaged. Not to mention the pure humiliation and social contempt that recovered addicts face day in and day out.
On the depression part, feelings of isolation.
As for religion, in many faiths, (the) God(s) are associated with the sun. Being away from the 'sun' could mean being distant from God. To the point where the devine being has ceased to exist or indifferent to the singer's plight.
I might go on to explain more, the generally the song is open to interpretation because of how clear and effective it's lyrics are.
It's a fantastic song.
god i can relate to so many of these songs my life is still terrible hmm lucky me oh well nobodies perfect and everyone has there own problems... nobody said life would be easy but it will be worth it in the end :/
i mostly agree to shish18 on the song meaning
He's obviously singing from the perspective of pants.
You need to see the video,to see what the artist is trying to potray..
This song has a very relative meaning to what the video is about. Its about a life of boy, who is abused by his dad, friends and girls mock at him. Also he carries a baggage while climbing , as he isn't able to let the thoughts go away.his ultimate goal is to reach out to his mother who loved him,who is his sun and solace.
The intent of the video is to show how we are dragged down by our own baggage. When we try to become a better person, many people ensure it never happens.but we ultimately have to reach the goal/overcome the obstacles and shine.
i don't realy think he's "suicidal or some shit", at least he sees the problem! but i do agree, the song's good, the lyrics are good, the melody's good = fucking amazing song!
Three Doors Down is one of my favorite bands... in most of their songs I can find a line or two that apply to my life... particularly the lines "I miss this life, I miss the colors of the world, can anyone tell me were I am" To me it sound like he is refering to a breakup or a fight with someone important to him. But that is just me... more inputs please!
