Sleep with your head against the sky tonight.
I can't count how many times you have made me cry.
I marvel at the way your hair glows in the light.

There's one who cares
for me today.
There's one who cares
for me today.

I've watched you grow up child,
You have made me proud.
I love the way your hand fits
so nicely in mine.
I always screw up,
I wonder how you sing to me.

There's one who cares
for me today.
There's one who cares
for me today.

I've watched you grow up child,
You have made me proud.
(There's one who cares
for me today.)
I love the way your hand fits
so nicely in mine.
(There's one who cares
for me today.)

I think this song (like 'Golly Sandra') is about a mother/father/adult talking to a child. They're noticing so many things they love about the child, and how they've become who they are.

"I always screw up, I wonder how you sing to me." -I've made a lot of mistakes, but you still love me.

"I've watched you grow up child, You have made me proud." -Again - I've watched you progress into a young adult and I've very proud of you.

Just my take on the song.

this song kind of goes along the same lines as "golly, sandra". but in this case, the person is reflecting on it when nothing seems to be going right in their life, and their child is the only thing to cheer them up.

"There's one who cares for me today." -at least when the rest of the world seems to be against, you aren't.

that's what i get from it.

I love this song. It gives me chills when I hear the begginging. And this song is just wonderful. It shows the talent of Eisley. Stacy's Rhodes keyboard at the start of the song... Sherri's vocals... Stacy's, too, actually. Chauntelle has a guitar solothing in it... and everything... is just beautiful. I love it.

I'm thinking it's about someone who had a kid when she was young, so it was considered "a screw-up" but she finds joy in it.

I disagree, I dont think its about parent/child relationship. This person is in love, but they dont think they are deserving of it. They feel they arent good enough for this amazing person. After every mess up they make this person still sings to them (still loves them, but could literally sing to them). The child is the evolution of their relationship. It started out just as a small thing (a baby) but it has grown into the full beautiful child.

this song reminds me of like an issue i'm having. i'm pretty much positive i'm totally in love with my best friend who i've known since she was like born. and she's always there for me and she's like the most important thing to me in my whole life. and like i don't think i'll ever tell her that i love her more then like she thinks becasue i'm scared shitless it would fuck up the way we are now, which is pretty much perfect.

but i am like 99.9999999999% sure she doesn't feel this way about me at all and that she's totally straight so yeah. this song fits my like dilemma.

so whatever i'll just go out with guys or girls knowing that i can never love them as much as her and i guess that'll have to be good enoughhhhh.

lol the end. not like anyone caressssss anyways.

shizzlecake, don't think that no one cares about random internet people! I care. Your story is terribly sad.

And to stay on topic of the song, I think it could mean either of the things that were said.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Holiday

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
