Of Montreal Lyrics
the falling freon
is turning me on
it drips on the street
the sun cries from the heat
i love feeling beat
kiss the lipstick on your teeth
friends gettin old
we all dig for gold
the crumbs and pieces
a dead mouse in the sink
are turning me on
are turning me on
the night so happy
the bass drum heavy
the photo glossy
the people pretty
turning me on
turning me on
turning me on
are turning me on......
ooohhh
is turning me on
it drips on the street
the sun cries from the heat
i love feeling beat
kiss the lipstick on your teeth
we all dig for gold
the crumbs and pieces
a dead mouse in the sink
are turning me on
are turning me on
the bass drum heavy
the photo glossy
the people pretty
turning me on
turning me on
are turning me on......

SOOO AWESOME
Sounds like a song someone would write while tripping off acid.
This is my favourite song by The Stills. I love the line about being turned on by a dead mouse in the sink, kind of morbid but also beautiful. I'm also love the mental picture I always get about kissing lipstick on a woman's teeth.
ironlung, i get the exact same image in my head of a guy kissing the lipstick off a girl's teeth. amazing imagery.
Montreal is my favourite city in the world and this song just makes me think about it and get all warm and fuzzy feeling ahah. "I love feeling beat" ... I love that line. And the stuff about the pretty people and happy nights and stuff... that's exactly what it's like in Montreal... it's so great. Yeah, awesome song.
Any connection to the band Of Montreal?

i think it's just a pun...i don't think it has anything to do with 'of montreal'. this band always reminds me of the movie donnie darko...does anyone know why?
I think this song is about a capturing a certain time and place. Lines like the "falling freeon" and "i love feeling beat", probably have no deeper meaning than some personal experience the writer had..so while it is exclusive in that regards, everyone has certain moments, days, weeks, years, that will always be looked back on with fondness. And if you don't, I feel sorry for you.
Actually, I know this band is pretty into environmentalism. "Falling freon" : Freon is a contributor to ozone depletion, which causes severe problems for humans and other organisms. So, "falling freon" probably refers to efforts to keep freon down from dangerous levels in the atmosphere. The Montreal Protocol of 1987 was the first major effort of doing this (the band is from there). This would tie into "the sun cries from the heat" - the earth is warming at an unsafe rate. Not sure if the whole song connects to climate change, but it's clear now that about half of...

Perhaps just comparing about how he's as passionate about the environment as his love? Who knows for sure.
Wonderful song
