I See Monsters Lyrics

Baby, I know you cannot hear me now
'Cause you're fast asleep, but I love you now.
Colors inside your head go spinning 'round
Like a ferris wheel
Exploding and falling to the ground
Oh, people are screaming, people are screaming
My baby, she's dreaming
Oh, people are shouting, people are freaking
Ohh, When she comes, I know that she's the one
Makes me want it harder
Makes me want to be a little stronger
Still I see monsters
Still I see monsters

Baby, I know you cannot hear me now
'Cause you're far away at the speed of sound
Colors inside your head go spinning 'round
Like a ferris wheel
Exploding and falling to the ground
Oh, people are screaming, people are screaming
My baby she's dreaming
Oh, people are shouting, people are freaking
I'm staring at the ceiling waiting for the feeling
Ohh, when she comes, I know that she's the one
Makes me want it harder, makes me want to be a little stronger
Still I see monsters
But still I see monsters

Some people here think this song is about junkies, and while I think that's possible, this song strikes me as more general.

The narrator is starting to feel a genuine love for this girl, and he recognizes it in vivid detail as he watches her sleep. Unlike strangers, she is peaceful and beautiful, and this realization makes him want to be a better man. She gives him motivation and inspiration, but she does not allay his fear. Even though he recognizes her as the eye in his storm, his still is filled with anxiety, and worries that he can never reach her level of peace.

He's in love with this girl. They're both heroin addicts, and she's ODing and he's laying there next to her waiting for his high thinking how much he loves her and realizing theres nothing he can do. While everyone around him is freaking out he's just admiring her....waiting for the fix

I think this song could be ambiguous and relate to drugs, if we recall the dark times in which it was written and recorded.

As mentioned already, - to me - the song is about this guy who is in a relationship in which he knows "that she's the one" and yet he's scared, he communicates his deepest thoughts with her when she's "fast asleep" and "far away at the speed of sound", and he talks to her at these deep hours of the night and tells her all that is on his mind and how he truly feels.

He's indicated that when he's with her, he feels safe, like he has everything and she makes him want to be a better person, because he admits that he needs to work harder for them. However, something keeps getting in the way (possibly, himself) and it's keeping in trapped in his own self-destructive cycle. -- "Still I see monsters"

This song sounds like it's about depression for me. Your're deeply in love, and you know it should work- but all you can see are the horrible little deamons that your mind throws at you, tearing your world apart.

I agree with absurd87. To me, this is ason about depression, love and drugs. He and his girlfriend are both junkies, they've just got their fix, and now he's watching her as she sleeps. The colours and people screaming are hallucinations caused by the drugs. And as he lays there, he thinks about how much he loves her, and how much he wants to overcome his depression because of her, but it's just not enough. "Still I see monsters" - the depression is continual, regardless of how much he tries to defeat it.

This is such a fantastic song. It's also really sad. He wishes he could tell her he loves her but she's in some other place far away. It's lovely.

yes, so lovely....

I don't think it's supposed to be taken that literally. I think its about him wanting to be with the girl, but not being strong enough to give her what she wants or needs.

reminds me of champaigne supernova in a way, soo beautifull...

I love this song. I think the lyrics are very straight forward, and just beautiful. He is sitting there staring at this girl while she is asleep, and he is thinking about the ways in which he loves her. He knows that he loves her, and he knows that he is willing to do anything and everything for this girl. But the monsters represent everything getting in the way. It could be things in either of their pasts, it could be fears inside of him holding their relationship back. Any way you put it, there is something that keeps coming up in his mind that is getting between them.

But the entire time, he loves her.
