This song is actually about a relationship that Ace was in. It was one of those forgive and forget type relationships. And the line "Time it makes it fine, that's how we make this life" is basically saying "Time makes things fine, but eventually, it's time to let go". He goes on about how she meant so much to him (you're smile is like the sun to me..) but there was just so much that happened that made things difficult between them.
so, in a nutshell, it's just about a relationship that dragged on and there were too many "forgive and forget" situations in the duration of it all.

so there is this girl i met like 4 years ago...she liked me...i fell for her...then she met my best friend...they went out for about a year and he totally screwed her over...from then on whenever she wanted anything from me she used the fact that she knew i still had feelings for her...most of the time it didnt work well but she tried...then she has been on and off liking me for about a year and a half...just yesterday i found out that she asked my ex if she would mind us going out...and now she is acting all shy around me...its really tempting and i care about her so very much...but this song reminds me..."But when I learn to make heat, It's just to disappoint "...i dont know what to do!!!...geez...females
To me this song is about him being completely into her, and her eventually becoming only being somewhat interested...but she can't say anything directly...so she uses little things as a way to try to make him see..he feels like when he's around something always isn't right, and he understands it's him...but she still kind of likes him, or just feels bad... so every once in awhile she lets out a smile that melts him back into her....and that makes him forget about all the signs she sends...so he tries again to make things better...only to disappoint.....maybe it's only me because I'm kind of in that situation right now, but he's almost begging her to come out and say what she needs to...just to end the bullshit...and if she doesn't he has too...HOT. cold. cold. cold. HOT. cold. cold. cold....it can't go on forever, even though it's hard to give up...
