I'm probably wrong.. But I'm thinking this..

so there's this girl. The guy really likes her, but his friends don't seem to like her. and when he's with the girl, he wants to talk to his friends but they completely ignore him and basically betray the friendship. (that's the whole 'friends attack from the back' bit). so he's losing his friends, while his girlfriend is dragging him further in. he's like her bracelet, he's attached to her and he's her everything. she can't let him him go, and he knows that his universe is now attached to her.

'I was hoping I could tell you this with two feet on the ground But I don't think I can talk, because I'm not very stable right now'

and he wants to tell her about his friends, how they've hurt him, but that he won't let her go because she means too much. but he's not stable enough to tell her, because he could be falling in love?

and then he has the dream. which relates to what's happening. they're the heroes (him and the girl) because they're going to stand up against the enemy (his friends that stabbed him in the back) and not lose, they can't be killed. heroes don't die. despite the fact they have no weapons, their love is enough

so they're standing there, those boys that he thought were his friends ready to fire. and they throw everything that have at the two 'heroes'. the leader (captain) yells for cease fire, and they wait to see what's happened. but instead of the couple falling apart like expected, they're just standing there smiling, because they're the heroes. and no one can kill the heroes. so all the ammo (which i believe were words and threats), was worthless against love.

Finally at the end, the repeating of wanting to tell her something, but not being stable.. It's probably because he's still to afraid to tell her he's fallen in love.

Even though they've won the battle.

as much as i'd like to think this song is about a girl or war, I feel as though it is a big screw you to any doubters, be it record labels or friends "with our instruments broken before us" is like somebody is trying to silence them, but "with smiles on both our faces we spit their faulty ammo to the ground" could be the verbal assaults they received from friends, other bands, and record labels. Also giving me the thought of this is the second line of the song.

Good line. I'm not all that sure what this song is about though. He's comparing war to love, maybe?

i love the lyrics here as well as the lil dramatic pause right b4 that you can't kill heroes

i think he's talking about how a chick hurt him emotionally (im not very stable right now..) but the lines "but you can't kill heroes.." is saying that even though she did that he's not completely broken and will get over it. great song, has a good tempo.

I think this song is about friends who put down the relationship he has with this girl, the whole narative is describing how no matter what they say or do they can not break their relationship.

I think that this song can actually have a number of meanings to different people. For example, the "love conquers all" theme, a soldier, or a person who is dealing with a physical sickness.

The love thing was already explained..so I'll just explain why I think it could seem like a soldier's anthem to some one.

Those lines could be the soldier remeniscing (sp) about his days in war. And how it felt when they finally succeeded in their cause, and they could put "smiles on both" their "faces and "spit" the enemies' "faulty ammo to the ground and remind them once again that you can't kill heroes" And while they were enjoying the fruits of their victory, they made sure that they would remind their enemy that their comrads who fell in battle are heroes, and will not be forgotten. So, in a sense they nevre really were killed, because they will always be in their thoughts.

Make me think of some one who is physically sick, like with a cancer or another life threatening disease. Many people are aware of the "livestrong" bracelets, right? Well, when you think about it..those bracelets we "sport" are in a sense those people. Because they were originally made to support the people who are fighting a life threatening disease. "I'm not very stable right now." Shows how they are being treated for their condition, but until the pocedure is completed, they are unstable, and unable to "talk" and let other people know that things will be alright. They dream of when they will be well again. Most people who defeat cancer are considered heroes to many, because it's almost an impossible disease to over come, and I'm sure that anyone that is diagnosed with it dreams that "You can't kill heroes." And even though their "instruments (or their bodies) are broken before us" they believe that they will become a hero, and achieve their dream.

Anyway..I decided to throw down a few more ideas that we can all pick apart. I don't know if anyone will agree, but hey, i think it's a pretty good arguement.

To me, and I could be totally wrong..but to me it seems like this guy is in love with this girl. And the shooting and killing heroes and all that deals with him being rejected by her, or her rejected by him because he's scared to face up and deal with what could quite possibly happen. He's hoping to tell her that he loves her but he's scared.

thats sayin he had some friends and they did something that probably didnt want him with the girl, the one who has him wrapped around her [pinky? no.] wrist. as a bracelet and him and the girl have gone thru so much together so they are like heroes and nothing can stop them now, you cant kill heroes

I don't even know what I think about this song sometimes... it can really take several different meanings, and some of them completely different.

Most of the time I think of it as some sort of romantic situation from the different verses.

• the singer is in love with someone that does not realize it, or will not be with him
• the singer believes that their (potential) love could overcome any hardship that comes their way, but he's too afraid of getting hurt to tell her this

...Mmhm.
