Your eyes tell the stories of a day you wish you could
Recall the moments that once have
Retrack the footsteps that brought us to this favor
I wouldn't ask this of you

Good eye, sniper, I shoot, you run
The words you scribbled on the walls
With the loss of friends you didn't have
I'll call you when the time is right
Are you in or are you out?
For them all to know the end of us all

Run quick, they're behind us, you didn't think we'd ever make it
This close to safety in one piece
Now you wanna kill me in the act of what could maybe
Save us from sleep and what we are

Good eye, sniper, now I shoot, you run
The words you scribbled on the walls
With the loss of friends you didn't have
I'll call you when the time is right
Are you in or are you out?
For them all to know the end of us all

Bye bye beautiful, I don't bother to write
Disturbed by your words and they're calling all cars
The face step, let down, the face step, step down

The words you scribbled on the walls
With the loss of friends you didn't have
I'll call you when the time is right
Are you in or are you out?
For them all to know

Bye bye beautiful, I don't bother to write
Disturbed by your words and they're calling all cars
The face step, let down, the face step, step down

Bye bye beautiful, I don't bother to write
Disturbed by your words and they're calling all cars
The face step, let down, the face step, step down

um, one more thing as i was reading through this... my dad likes led zeplin and pink floyd too. not that he doesnt have good taste, its just you're trying to stake that as something unique, when i assure you, pink floyd and zepplin had their share of MTV and radio play as well. both of them have record deals, but both of them are still awesome. who cares if coheed and cambria are on MTV and who cares who isnt. if you dont like MTV, then fuck it and dont watch. i just dont think caliber of music can be determined by how many ppl know of "your" favorite band. talent is talent no matter how much MTV wants to ride it. i didnt even know co&ca was on MTV, i stopped watching it awhile ago. so if fame bothers you so much, do the same. no one is trying to steal anyone's favorite band and no one is going to be cooler by liking older school stuff. music is just an expression. express it however you want.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
