Ode To Clarissa Lyrics

I knock on your door
I tiptoe on the floor
I hope your daddy ain’t home right now
He warned me once before

You know he warned me once before

I stay up late
So we can keep our date
I love that we don’t get no sleep
So to your window I creep
You know he warned me once before

chorus:
I’m the one your mamma told ya ‘bout
I’m the one your papa told ya ‘bout

Now you’re in love
And why shouldn’t you be
I’m everything you’ll never be
You say don’t leave
Baby, I can’t wait
Next time, we share my second base

repeat chorus

One of my friends pointed out to me that this song reminds him of that old Nicalodean (yes I know I butchered that word) show, "Clarissa Tells All". I vaguely remember this but I think it may actually be based on that show, wasn't there that next door neighbor kid that always climbed up to her window ("So to your window I creep")?

I think you might be right

The last line is:

"Next up, Michelle's my second date."

That is why, when performed live, they once introduced the song by saying "This song is called Ode to Clarissa... it's about Michelle."

A good friend of mine did a paper on this as part of his HSC (NSW, Aussie final assessment) and he did some hardcore investiagtion as to the meaning of the song. He managed to find a quote from Nick Oliveri stating the song was about dating younger women.
