Love this song!!!! I can relate to it a lot.. my ex-gf told me something along the lines of "boys like you try too hard to look not quite as desperate" and I guess it always just reminds me of what she told me. and ialso still know how to make her make-up run. and even if she was the bad one in our relationship, she never said sorry with a straight face. so with the lines "boys like you try too hard to look not quite as desperate, I'm hanging on, but I still know how to make your make-up run" & "And when it all goes to hell, will you be able to tell me sorry with a straight face?" I can always relate to this song over heartbreak. but that's just me, I dont know the actual genuine meaning to this song :P

Basically this song is about a girl who did the guy wrong and she refuses to let go of the grudge between them and so does he. And when the end of the relationship comes he's askin if she'll really mean it when she says sorry or just fake it and move on.
