Saturday Lyrics
I'm good to go
And I'm going nowhere fast
It could be worse
It could be taking you there with me
I'm good to go
But it looks like I'm still on my own
I'm good to go
For something golden
Though the motions I've been going through have failed
And I'm coasting on potential towards the wall
At a 100 miles an hour
When I say
Two more weeks
My foot is in the door (yeah)
I can't sleep
In the wake of Saturday (Saturday)
Saturday
When these open doors were open-ended
Saturday
When these open doors were open-ended
Pete and I attacked the laws of Astoria
with promise and precision and mess of youthful innocence
And I read about the afterlife
But I never really lived more than an hour (more than an hour)
When I say
Two more weeks
My foot is in the door (yeah)
I can't sleep
In the wake of Saturday (Saturday)
Saturday
When these open doors were open-ended
Saturday
When these open doors were open-ended
And I read about the afterlife
But I never really lived
And I read about the afterlife
But I never really lived
Two more weeks
My foot is in the door
Me and Pete
In the wake of Saturday
Saturday
When these open doors were open-ended

this song's basically about being lazy and living in the past when you could get away with it
i think this song is about regret....and how he always saw people wasting their lives, but never really thought that'd happen to him. how people shouldn't take anything for granted
"And I read about the afterlife But I never really lived"
Pretty much sums up the song, it's about regretting the times, the 'Saturdays' that you missed, and how quickly they went by...
Astoria is a town in Illinois, so I'm guessing it's just a reference to make the song more personal to them. And the video for the song makes perfect sense with it's meaning--patrick plays the guy with this boring life, dead-end office job, and pete plays the sinister, not darker...but like, the guy with thrills in his life...who patrick's character really wants to be. And then there's more twists, like Patrick working as a detective trying to catch pete who's his alter-ego, and then when they meet at the end and pete kills patrick, pete dies...because patrick's dead, and his whole idea fanstasy life (pete's character) dies along with him.
Fall Out Boy is fucking amazing
I heard on the behind the scenes on song with pete and patrick and they said it was about the stress that was going on with them about college. And that card was like a certificate on collge and everytime they would look at it the stress would burst. My mom didn't understand what the song meant but I did. Sort of.
Yeah i agree. Its deffinately about them being in high school, i think they felt like everyone else knew what they wanted to.. and it was realistic. But they were chasing the dream of being in a band, and nobody believed in them. So they started wasting their potential.
I think they also sing about not fitting in. They didnt live because they never enjoyed their time, because people probably didnt accept them.. and they never went out on "saturday" night etc.. cos they were so unpopular.
And Patrick wrote this. Its why its one of my favourites. And the video, is good too.
I would just like to revisit and rekindle the importance of this song.
Saturday defines everything fall out boy is and isn't. Saturday speaks to why fall out boy is still the same fall out boy they were 6 or 7 years ago. It really is just a group of a couple suburban hardcore dudes with some boredom. Life is a journey and not a destination and they are enjoying the journey and not letting anyone impede that. They are doing what they want to do and at the same time remembering and never forgetting where they came from and all the shittalking, resistance, and non believers they came across along the way. Saturday is about how a band can save your life.
I still believe and always will.
i'm pretty sure that's pete doing the screaming in the song- does ne one for sure? i love that part
this is definitely my favorite song on the cd...it has been my favorite since i listened to it in march of 04. I think l-kyne is right, kind of like living life to the fullest or something. if anyone has seen the video, its pretty cool...
