Under The Stairs Lyrics

You know you're too young for your age
I feel kind of sorry for you
'Cause it's such a shame
You won't be laughing when I'm dead

Under stairs and no one cares I'm dead
And that is where I'll wait for you

Nothing here has changed
Maybe you should go and find
Someone else to blame
'Cause you are gonna be sorry when I'm dead

Under stairs and no one cares I'm dead
And that is where I'll wait for you

For some reason this reminds me of highschool bullies. The victim sarcastically feels sorry for them because they are immature. However, over time she lets the teasing get to her and threatens to kill herself so that the bullies rethink how they treat people. In other words, they won't be laughing at her anymore if she kills herself because of them.

The bullies don't take her seriously so they continue tormenting her. She wants them to find another person to tease and leave her alone before she is pushed off the edge. She ends up commiting suicide and thinks no one will care about her. She's waiting (in a basement, perhaps?) for someone to find her body.

Who knows.

It's about a girl that's being bullied, and she wants them to know it's their fault when she ends up dead. The name "under the stairs" is where she's going to kill herself. That's where she'll wait for them to find her. Knowing they won't care she still tells them it's their fault. So that they'd know. This song is one of the best songs I've heard I love it.

My Interpretation

to me this song well i guess could have a few meaning's i don't know the main thing i was swinging towards was suicide, perhap's suicide due to a relationship gone bad?

" You know you're too young for your age I feel kind of sorry for you 'Cause it's such a shame You won't be laughing when I'm dead"

too young for your age is simply you're immature, you wont be laughing when i'm dead ..question is what would they be laughing about?

"Nothing here has changed Maybe you should go and find Someone else to blame 'Cause you are gonna be sorry when I'm dead" nothing has changed meaning perhaps this guy "as i said i'm leaning towards a suicide due to bad relationship" anyway this guy hasnt changed his way's is still immature ,someone else to blame meaning he's blaming her for soemthing ignorant and meaningless?

and under the stair's and where i'll wait for you that's where she's hiding while she attempt's this suicide thing?

Like Blinko said, the first line says that they are immature. The next few lines say that they won't be as happy, laughing about her when she dies.

"Under stairs and no one cares I'm dead And that is where I'll wait for you"

She's waiting under the stairs for the person that led her to her suicide, and believes no one else to care.

"Nothing here has changed Maybe you should go and find Someone else to blame 'Cause you are gonna be sorry when I'm dead"

These lines are saying, suicide has crossed my mind and now you really need to back off because you're gonna feel sorry that you caused me to kill myself.

"Under stairs and no one cares I'm dead And that is where I'll wait for you"

I agree about what shampoosuicide said. It might be about bullying and she can't take the torment anymore.

You know you're too young for your age

she's immature, and she dosent like him because he acyts to mature,he thionks it's unfair because he's in love with her and dosent beleve theers any one elce, and theer really just the same age but she dosent see it.and so he's sure he'll die soon, with nothing lece to live for and she'll be devasted for not noticing him.

I think it's more of a parental abuse situation. She is perhaps being abused by an immature step-parent, which is why she will be waiting "under the stairs" for the abuser.

perhaps she's talking to an abuser who delights too much in harming her. and she's telling him he won't be so happy when he goes too far. when she's dead he won't be able to hurt her anymore.

"you're too young for your age, i feel sorry for you 'cause it's such a shame" --the abuse, the bully mentality, it's an immature way of thinking and living.

"nothing here has changed maybe you should go and find someone else to blame" --the abuse is perhaps his way of dealing with a life that hasn't gone his way, and she's saying it's time to move on 'cause what he's doing isn't fixing it.

maybe under the stairs is where he keeps her, or where she hides from him. "no one cares if i'm dead" is a common thought in the abused, which tends to be why they don't leave, because they don't believe they have anywhere to go or that anyone cares.

i don't think this is suicide at all. it reminds me of those threats little kids make when they get in trouble or they don't get their way. they basically say "you'll be sorry when i'm dead!" and go hiding somewhere... in this case, under the stairs.

except in this case, the child sounds like they might be dead, but only in some parts of the song. the beginning line about being too young makes me think of parents who have kids when they're only teenagers.

i'm not completely convinced on the abuse theory, but it sounds likely.

Well, like everyone's said, it could be about a girl being bullied and theating them with suidice. But, since I like to make little music videos in my head with Birthday Massure songs, the way I see it is that a young girl is negleted and mocked by her family. She warns them if they don't stop, she'll haunt them in the afterlife. Of coarse, they just laugh and forget about it. But when the girl dies due to be pushed down the stairs, the family panices and dumps her body under the stairs. And just as she promised, she torments her family as a ghost. (Yes, I know it's a bit out there, but I feel like it fits.)
