The Last Remaining Light Lyrics

Roll me on your frozen fields
break my bones to watch them heal
drown me in your thirsty veins
where i watch
and i wait
and pray for the rain
curl like smoke
and breath again
down your throat
inside your ribs
through your spine
and every nerve
where i watch
and i wait
and yield to the hurt

And if you don't believe the sun will rise
stand alone and greet the coming night
in the last remaining light

seven moons and seven suns
Heaven waits for those who run
Down your winter
And underneathe your waves
Where you watch
And you wait
And pray for the day

And if you don't believe the sun will rise
Stand alone and greet the coming night
In the last remaining light

And if you don't believe the sun will rise
stand alone and greet the coming night
in the last remaining light
light
light
light

these are the correct lyrics: and yield to the hurt and if you believe the sun will rise stand alone and greet the coming night

as to the meaning, im not really sure, but to me the last half of the song is about hope. NOT HOPE LIKE CHRISTIANITY AND JESUS and all that shit, but hope as in knowing that things can turn around if you accept that fact and work on it. if you dwell on how bad things are then nothings going to get fixed and nothing will get better.

SO basically, "if you don't believe the sun will rise" if you dont believe things will ever improve, "stand alone and greet the coming night" then you might as well accept the terrible situation ur in and the the terrible things to come, because, having no hope, obviously you arent making an effort to change ur situation and you arent accepting the fact that it CAN change if you work at it. "in the last remaining light" because of the above, the things that make you happy will dwindle and slowly disapear. they are "the last remaining light".

message of this song? accept the fact that ur situation isnt hopeless, and that if you work at it it can be made bettter. if you dont accept it, then face the bad things that will come while your in the last remaining light of all the things in your life that make you happy.

Sheesh cristians strike again, I suppose you have take a break on the net between shifts of spreading single minded fundamentalism.

Anyway, as with most songs the meaning of this song is most likely simply what it means to you as a person. Or you could ask Chris, but he'd probably just smile and slowly back away from you.

This song is chilling. It reminds me of the end of the world...of that last burning candle.

interpretations about god, and DRUGS lol.

despite its dark sound, and how depressing some of my friends find this song, it gives me a good feeling everytime.

This song to me is about a person who is speaking to his tormetor or whatever his source of anguish. The speaker is saying they he has been abused and seen the worst, yet he lives or depends on his tormentor, Yet his tormentor is now in a place where the outlook is not so good for him/her/it. The speaker says that if you think this is the end of the world, then your alone in those thoughts, because you yourself instilled in me that there will be a tomorrow, whether that tomorrow will be worse, or better we don't know, but if you want to be the fool that thinks that there is no hope, then you are by yourself.

The verse "Heaven waits for those who run", reminds me of people who have to run to catch a bus, and when the bus driver sees them, stops and lets them get on. The same is being equated with heaven. If the tormentor seeks forgiveness, heaven, absolution, they have to make an effort and try.

"Down your winter And underneathe your waves Where you watch And you wait And pray for the day He is saying hat the tormentor himself, in his coldes darkest parts of himself wants forgiveness for what he has done and is doing. But that can only come if he seeks it.

My Interpretation

In “The Last Remaining Light,” Cornell sings from the viewpoint of somebody who knows he won’t survive long, in example, the line— “And if you don’t believe the sun will rise, stand alone and greet the coming night, in the last remaining light.”

My Interpretation

i think this song is definatly about god. it the chorus where he says, "and if you dont believe the sun (son?) will rise, stand alone and greet the coming night, in the last remaining light." i think hes saying if you dont believe in god or heaven or anything like that, then there is nothing else for you in the end. if you think death is the end, and there is no afterlife, then stand and greet the coming night, because thats all there is, you better embrace it. the last moment(s) of your life is the last remaining light.

I think the song is refering to somebody who is on their deathbed and is about to die and who won't survive the night and so in the last remaining time you have alive you embrace/prepare for the last moments of your life.

"and you too the herd " should be "and yield to the hurt".

I don't know what it means to me, but I am haunted by it and I enjoy that.
