Cure My Tragedy Lyrics
Remember all the times that we used to play
You were lost and I would save you
I don't think those feelings will ever fade
You were born a part of me.
I was never good enough at hiding anything
My thoughts break me
Do you understand what you mean to me
You are my faith.
Won't you cure my tragedy
Won't you cure my tragedy
Don't take her smile away from me
She's broken and I'm far away.
Won't you cure my tragedy
Won't you cure my tragedy
If you make the world a stage for me
Then I hope that you can hear me scream
Won't you cure my tragedy
When I sit and think of the days we shared
And the nights you covered for me
Every little thing that I ever did
You would stand by me
Every time you would cry it would take my wind
My heart would break
If I could be strong like you were for me
You are my faith
Won't you cure my tragedy
Won't you cure my tragedy
Don't take her smile away from me
She's broken and I'm far away
If you made the world a stage for me
Then I hope that you could hear me scream
Can you hear me scream
Can you hear me scream
Won't you cure my tragedy
Won't you cure my tragedy
Don't take her smile away from me
She's broken and I'm far away
Won't you cure my tragedy
Won't you cure my tragedy
If you made the world a stage for me
Then I hope that you can hear me scream
I can't take this anymore
I can't take this anymore
Won't you take and give her pain to me
Cause my whole life I've made mistakes
Hear me scream
Can you hear me scream
You were lost and I would save you
I don't think those feelings will ever fade
You were born a part of me.
I was never good enough at hiding anything
My thoughts break me
Do you understand what you mean to me
You are my faith.
Won't you cure my tragedy
Don't take her smile away from me
She's broken and I'm far away.
Won't you cure my tragedy

Won't you cure my tragedy
And the nights you covered for me
Every little thing that I ever did
You would stand by me
Every time you would cry it would take my wind
My heart would break
If I could be strong like you were for me

“This is about my sister, the times we were growing up as kids. It’s also a letter to god, asking him to cure her of cancer. At the end, I say, ‘I can’t take this anymore. Won’t you take and give her pain to me, because my whole life I’ve made mistakes.’ She’s the good person; she’s always treated everybody in her life really well. On the other hand, I’ve had problems with drugs and alcohol, and maybe I wasn’t so nice to everybody. So I’m saying to god, ‘Why isn’t it me? Take my ass instead of her.’ I’m crying throughout this whole song, and at the end, when I say ‘I hope that you can hear me scream,’ the guitar takes over and starts screaming for me.” Scooter Ward
Here IS what the song is about paraphrased from Scooter himself. He did an interview with shoutweb.com right before 'Year of the Spider' came out:
His sister had cancer. He was touring. She was across the country. He wanted to cancel some dates and be with her since she was on her deathbed. She said no you don't have to, you're too important to Cold and you're fans. Keep touring, but write a song for me. He wrote the song and he sang it to her and the cancer went away.
It's somewhere on shoutweb.com in the archives. He also tells about other songs from the album, too.
i heard its about his sister, she had cancer and died at a young age, i guess it is hard for him to play it live because it means so much to him
seven puppets. you are a fucking retard. i saw them live in 2006. end of summer.
right before the song he told the story. it's about his sister. she has cancer and it was at a point where she was on her deathbed. he came up with this song crying at his house one night. and played it to her the next day. now shes in recovery. it's not fully gone but its getting better day by day.
this is perfect for me, since my girlfriends going through some hard times but she lives in a different county so I cant see her all the time. I wish i could cure her tragedy... "Everytime you cried it would take my wind /My heart would break" "Won't take and give her pain to me /'Cause my whole life I've made mistakes"....
Holy shit this is an amazing song. I dedicated this song to my mom when she died.
actually i dont think she died.i could be wrong but that s all that i know.
she didn't die, she has cancer though and she got really sick
I loved this songthe first time i heard it/ it reminds me of my best friend for some reason becuz we're so much alike/ and if they ever died or somethin this is how i'd feel
I do picture this as a person's near and dear friend or sibling that he grew up with. That he feels so connected with. And he talks about a love between them where they always supported each other and would stand up for each other. Someone he feels truly at home with and who he can trust to not ever turn his back on him.
Now she (possibly his sister) is sick and he's asking for the cure. Because when "She's broken and I'm far away" he feels so helpless.
"if you make the world a stage for me then I hope that you can hear me scream"
It looks as if he's talking with his own creator, trying to make a deal or resolve this pain that she is going through but doesn't deserve. I'm been there so many times. And it is awesome because Scooter knows what made him become a singer, that perhaps if he screams on stage loud enough, she can hear him.
"Won't take and give her pain to me 'Cause my whole life I've made mistakes"
He sees that she is not deserving of the pain she has to be put through. That she has always supported him and he should at least be able to take on her pain for all that she's done.
There is A LOT of emotion put into this song. I see this as the most powerful line: "I don't think those feelings will ever fade You were born a part of me"
That she was truly a part of his life and how bitter it can be for the winds to just come and sweep away those that he has loved the most. This happens all the time. And it is so sad, but people know that such good people at times burn out the quickness. As if they're never meant for this world. But they a part of them lives within you.
