Meeting Again For The First Time Lyrics

Barely able to keep the lids open
At times I might think I need the rest
but who would want to go back there?
It's already hard enough to say I need it.
bad memories and good times.
Keep me from believing that I can still jump off.
No longer, no longer the same.
you grow accustomed to seeing the sun in a different location.
Standing still becomes a chore.
Anxious to get the pavement moving.
The easy solution to this and everything else is to move on.
It comes equipped with the last word.
they find ways to drag you along
and dismantle what you created.
It's already hard enough to say I need it
Bad memories and good times.
Keep me from believing that I can still jump off.
No longer, no longer the same.
You grow accustomed to seeing the sun in a different location.
Standing still becomes a chore.
Anxious to get the pavement moving.
Happiness is not having to lie on the floor dead alone.

this is an incredible song...i love the sound that they gave it...the slow build up into an explosion of angst...beautiful! anyways, i think this song is about being on the road, being in a band, being famous, etc. ("you grow accustomed to seeing the sun in a different location"), and how it takes a lot out of you and really wears you down ("barely able to keep the lids open"), also the record companies and the "corporate" music world...they try and sink their teeth in and try to ruin a band..that can really get to some people ("they find ways to drag you along and dismantle what you've created") at some point, every band gets so fed up with things that they want to throw in the towell and just call it quits("the easy solution to this, and everything else is to move on"), but ultimately they realize that they are doing what they love and it's all worth it in the end ("at times i might think that i need the rest but who would want to go back there?", "bad memories and good times keep me from believing that i can still jump off")

"Happiness is not having to lie on the floor dead alone..." Goddamn that's powerful.

when i first heard this song i sort of thought it was about someone who is not emotionally stable and needs their pills but they have a tendancy to overdose hence the line, "but who would want to go back there" because they can't control themselves, but after reading other comments I'd have to agree with the whole being on the road with the band thing
