it sounds like he could be talking to alot of people a therapist,parents,other singers anyone about how they are trying to lead him and others down the wrong path and everyone needs to find their own way through there problems

I haven't heard the song but after reading the lyrics, i think both of you are right. i'm leaning more towards the God idea though. I am because it just sounds like something I would hear at my church. It's probably not even God, it could be a priest who is speaking for God but has no idea what he's talking about. Who knows. The lyrics are great.

I think it could also be about how you can't help somebody "see the light" (as in depression, religion, etc.), they have to find it themselves.

I lean more toward the thought of this is how he is speaking to one of his parents (especially after he says the word 'son'). To me, it's about how kids know how hard things can be, they see it everyday and they're forced to deal with it. However, then they grow up, they lose touch with things and they forget what it's like to live as we do. They become hypocrites of the worst form. This is Sean fighting with them, attempting to get them to see what's really going on. In the chorus he says a grandiose 'fuck it' and gives up on them, deciding instead that he's living the best he can, and he'll continue to do so.

But they've already been paid, they dont care, they're just making money. cocky phychiatrists and phychologists, with bullshit answers and no true solution. but it wont actually work. never gonna go thier way

I love these lines. It's so true. Parents have kids, and then just bitch and complain about them. Then try to run their lives until they completely piss the kid off.
