Naive Orleans Lyrics

Come and go now as you please
Your actions write the melodies
To the songs that we sing
And you just sing

And I finally found that life goes on without you
And my world still turns when you're not around

Is this the way you want it?
Is this the way it has to be?
Sitting here beside you
But my heart's lost in New Orleans
Dreams come clever
Hearts now severed
Difference of forever
And I am lost there

Come and go now as you please
Your actions write the melodies
To the songs that we sing
And you just sing along out loud

I agree with Kylee, the acoustic version is near perfection

This seems to be a bit different then what others are seeing.

The song starts out with:

Come and go now as you please Your actions write the melodies To the songs that we sing And you just sing

Then goes into

And I finally found that life goes on without you And my world still turns when you're not around

The song ends with "And you just sing along out.. loud"

Both people have been trying to find reasons to make it work. They've hurt each others, and both have come back. They realize they aren't each others crutch anymore. They are saying this to themselves at this moment of clarity

"And I finally found that life goes on without you and my world still turns when you're not around." Wow...holy men lol. Just listened to this one, and the beginning of it caught my attention. One of their OTHER best songs :)

yes...kind of freaky but COMPLETELY not true...notice how the first comment was made back in 2003? therefore this is not a tribute but merely a coincedence

oh god this song is amazing. one of my favorites by far by anberlin.

and at this moment this song describes me completely. I have finally gotten over someone that caused me more pain that you can ever fathom, and I now have someone else that saved me from everything.

"and I finally found that life goes on without you and my world still turns when you're not around"

when you've experienced this, you can't help but be amazed at how its actually possible when you thought it never was.

This is the only song I've ever heard by Anberlin, but I am definitely captivated by it.

I love the line, "But my heart's lost in New Orleans."

I just spent a few days there, for my 21st birthday, and while I can't remember some of that night, it was definitely one of the greatest nights of my life. And I know that even if I go to New Orleans again, and go into every bar, and get a drink from every one, it will never be the same, not even close to it. So this song is sort of how I feel about that... a part of me, my heart, was left in New Orleans when I was there.

But that's just me, my personal spin on it.

In general, I just think it's about somebody getting over someone they lost, realizing that the world is still gonna keep turning, and life does go on.

This is directly from the Jacket of "Lost Songs"

"This song was about heartbreak & trying to move on after such an event. After Katrina, I recieved several e-mails from residents of New Orleans, telling me that this song helped them in their journey towards recovery. I wish we could have done more to help, but I'm just elated that we could help the victims in this very, very small way."

Obviously, it was written long before Katrina, so unless Stephen is physic and decided not to tell anyone about it, this song really wasn't meant to be about Hurricane Katrina. However, a lot of people now relate this song to the disaster. But the song was ultimately about heartbreak and getting over it.

And partyboy, I wouldn't be so cockey. I've been to 2 Anberlin shows in Orlando (their hometown) this year alone and they said the same thing. And I'm sure they've said it to about 500 other places too. lol.

Like R.AS, I am listening to this song while typing... I think this song is about getting over someone ("I've fially found that life goes on without you/And my world still turns when you're not around"). This song fits my situation as I've been getting over someone who happens to live in New Orleans.

Though this song wasn't originally written about the hurricane I can see why people would associate this song to that event.
